Lois Faye (Best) Yates, 86, a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025. She was born July 2, 1939, in Minco, Oklahoma, to the late Luther and Jewel (Walker) Best.

Lois attended grade school at Ozone and high school at Lamar, Arkansas, graduating in the Class of '57. After graduation, she went to Amarillo, Texas and worked for Southwestern Investment Co., Amarillo Oil Co. and Pioneer Production Corp., Argonaut Energy Corp. and Mesa Petroleum. Lois married William Doyal ''Dee'' Yates on June 19, 1976, and he died on July 14, 1979. She was the President of the Desk and Derrick Club of Amarillo in 1969. Lois returned to Arkansas in 1990 and worked for the Ozone Post Office part-time, as well as the USFS in a CeCep Program. She helped to organize the Ozone School Reunion, raising funds to preserve and maintain the Community Building. Except for the years spent in Amarillo, where she was a member of First Baptist Church, Lois had been a member of the Ozone Baptist Church since 1954.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dee Yates; her parents, Luther and Jewel Best; her sister, Reba Best (David) Patton.

Lois is survived by her nephew, David Allen Patton of Fayetteville, Arkansas; her niece, DeVina K. Patton of Fayetteville, Arkansas; four great nieces, Lindsay Hopson, Kristen Hopson, Lydia Patton, and Sarah Jane Patton; and one great nephew, Mark Ryan Hopson; her great nieces and nephew; and many other family and friends.

Burial arrangements are private under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.

I worked with Lois at the Ozone P.O. She was a really sweet lady. The world has lost an angel.
