of Little Rock, AR
September 22, 1940 - December 3, 2025
Sandy Holt of Little Rock, Arkansas departed this life to spend eternity with her dear Savior on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, hospitality, and love.
Sandy grew up in Clarksville, Arkansas. Upon graduating from high school, she spent the summer as a volunteer at Ridgecrest Baptist Summer Camp before attending college at Ouachita Baptist University. She earned a degree in education and was a teacher, but her most important calling was that of a pastor's wife. She served faithfully beside her husband David for thirty-six years in churches in Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Wyoming, and Florida. As a child, Sandy had always wanted to be a missionary, and that dream was realized when she and David answered the call to serve in the mission field, teaching Bible classes and planting a church in Kampala, Uganda.
Sandy's smile would light up a room, and she had a gift for making everyone feel seen and welcomed. There was always a seat at the table, and she would make sure you were well-fed. Cooking was her love language and a legacy she shared with her children and grandchildren (especially Anna). If you knew her well, you would have most likely been a part of Sandy's cinnamon roll ministry.
Sandy found great joy in her walk with God. She loved Bible study, found beauty in even the most ordinary things, and lived out her faith daily in the way she served others.
Sandy is preceded in death by her husband, David Holt; parents, Homer and Margaret Pierce, and two sisters, Mary Anne Berryman and Donna Saylor. She is survived by four daughters Aimee Smashey and husband, David of Bolivar, Missouri; Lisa Deckard and husband, Darrell of Republic, Missouri; Holly Holt and husband, David Cabrera of Houston, Texas, and Andrea Heflin and husband, Jay of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Carol Davis of Southaven, Mississippi; three granddaughters, Hannah (Tyler) Lewis, Anna Heflin, and Sofia Smashey; four grandsons, Will (Ashley) Deckard, Ben Heflin, Ian (Kaytlin) Deckard, and Emery Smashey; one great-grandson, Jordan Deckard, a great-granddaughter due in the spring, and many spiritual children from her time in Uganda who called her Mama.
A celebration-of-life service will be held at Parkway Place Church, 300 Parkway Place Drive, Little Rock, AR 72212 on Monday, December 22, 2025. Visitation at 2pm and service at 3 p.m.

I was in school with Sandy 1st thru 12th grade. She was exactly the same all those years as described in her obituary. We attended First Baptist Church and all it's activities, she was a darling , I'm thankful to have known and had her as a classmate. My condolences to her family and friends.

Sandy and David were faithful missionaries and great friends. True servants of God.

Mummy Sandy Holt ,may you rest in Jesus Christ 🙏 We are joining you soon too

Oh, what a dear sweet lady Ms Sandy was. She has left a legacy of sweet, kind daughters & family too! She spent so much time with Allison teaching her how to make her famous cinnamon rolls. How thrilled she & Bro. David were when she entered them into the local fair & won a blue ribbon!
She talked weekly (maybe more) with Allison. She is surely missed, but oh, what a great reunion there is now for her & for us when we join them again! Much love & prayers for the family as our faithful God comforts you in her absence.

I met David and Sandy while they were attending Markham Street Baptist. They were both so loving and had a Servants' Heart. They were so sweet to my grandchildren, Caleb, Torin, and Lola. She will be missed here on earth, but Heaven has truly gained an angel.

What a privilege to lead a Community Bible Study zoom group which included precious Sandra Holt. Her zeal for the Lord and His Word refreshed us all. We were isolated because of the COVID experience, but we connected in spirit and truth on Zoom. Sandra loved when David wanted to join us. I praise God for the gift of Sandra and am thankful I have had the honor of knowing her. Andrea and sisters, I'll keep all of you in my prayers. You'll see your sweet mother again one day, and what a reunion it will be. We are never ready to send our loved ones on. With peace, grace, and love as sweet memories being you joy.

Sandy and David were in the Sunday School class I led at First Baptist of Arkadelphia. What gracious and loving hosts they were for so many gatherings for that group for their home was easily accessible to elderly and handicapped. I loved and appreciated them so much. My love, prayers, and sympathy go to the family now and in the days ahead.

I was saddened to see Sandy's obituary in the paper today, but know she is happy with the ones she loved, especially David. I met her at our little coffee group at McDonald's, and we enjoyed many moments of laughter and listening to her and David's stories about being missionaries. He would tell funny little jokes and she would say, ''Oh, David!'' Then she would give a little grin and a giggle. She was such a lovely, caring southern lady.
Bless her, and God bless her family.
