John Larry Kellar of Plumerville, Arkansas passed away Friday, December 5, 2025 in Conway, AR. He was born on December 15, 1945 in Morrilton, AR to John Ralph and Willie Florine Kellar. He was the middle of three children and grew up in Mallettown, AR. He was a member of Portland Missionary Baptist Church.
Larry graduated from Morrilton High School in 1963. After high school he attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway and later, Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and worked for Frito Lay in Memphis, TN. Larry married Sherrye Diane Koonce in 1967. They celebrated 58 years of marriage in September 2025. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He served as a Med Tech in the Air National Guard. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and was stationed in Memphis, TN. Larry returned to dairy farming in Mallettown after his time at Frito Lay. He was always happiest while on the farm with his family. Even after leaving the dairy industry, he spent his summers in his yard and garden.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jeremy Kellar. He is survived by his wife, Diane Kellar of Plumerville; his sons, John (Kasey) Kellar of Morrilton, Tyler (Kristin) Kellar of Wooster; grandsons, Ben Kellar of Conway, Sam Kellar and Owen Kellar of Morrilton, Jax Kellar of Wooster and one granddaughter, Olivia Kellar of Wooster, as well as loving members of his church family who were so special to him. He is also survived by his brother, Dwight (Sue) Kellar of Springfield and sister, Diane Kellar Stell (Randy) of Center Ridge, Arkansas. Special survivors include his many cousins, nieces, nephews, his 1963 Classmates and many, many friends whom he cherished.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. at Portland Missionary Baptist Church, 304 W Nesbitt Avenue, Plumerville, AR.
Pallbearers will be Larry Gordon, Jimmy Don Kellar, Michael Earl Dunlap, Ben Kellar, Sam Kellar and Owen Kellar. Jax Kellar and Brent Gordon will serve as honorary pallbearers.
