of Clinton, AR
May 19, 1931 - November 29, 2025
Allie Verniece (Smith) Harness, age 94, of Clinton, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Verniece was born on May 19, 1931, in Pee Dee, Arkansas, the youngest child of the late Joseph Jefferson Smith and the late Bessie Ethel Smith.
After graduating high school, Verniece married the love of her life, Kenneth DeWayne Harness. Two children were born to this union, Donald Ray, and later, Mark Eugene, both of whom brought immense joy and pride to their parents' hearts.
In their early years, Kenneth and Verniece traveled to various construction job sites across the country. Verniece worked in factories, supporting their life together with determination and resilience.
Years later, when they returned home to Clinton, Kenneth retired, and together they began providing childcare to those lucky enough to get a slot. Many families in the community were blessed by the love, warmth, and stability she and Kenneth provided.
Verniece was a Christian of the Baptist faith. Her unwavering belief in the Lord guided her life and offered her comfort, purpose, and peace. She lived out her faith through kindness, humility, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone she knew.
Her memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Mark, and his wife, Pam; her grandson, R J Martin, and his wife, Taylor, and great-grandchildren, Asher, Owen, Ivy, and Elaine; her grandson, Reagan Martin, and his wife, Kalee, and great-grandchildren, Harper and Jude; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends who loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Verniece was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Kenneth Harness; a son, Donald Harness; and a very special friend and companion, Jim Solomon. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Orbin Smith and Lloyd Smith, and by four sisters, Lois Porter, Nerene Williams, Mary Jo Davis, and Dortha Smith.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Brown and her nephew, Reverend Steve Smith officiating. Verniece will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Kenneth, at Pee Dee Cemetery.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to the staff of both Ozark Health Nursing and Rehab and Hospice Home Care for their loving care of Verniece and her family. Your many kindnesses will forever be remembered.
