Jerry John Gorton, 91, of Viola, Arkansas passed from this Walk of Life on November 16, 2025.
Jerry was born in Radom, Poland on May 26, 1934. Son of the late Stanislaus and Antoinette Gorton. Evergreen, his home and farm for 54 years, was a wonderful Blessing entrusted to him from God. He was a good steward and wanted to own a piece of the planet! He loved to walk the land for hours with his dogs over the years.
Jerry had many precious gifts given by God. He could play many instruments by ear - clarinet, organ, cello, and mandolin. He also spoke and understood 6 languages. Jerry loved life and always looked on the positive side of things. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was a builder, a world-wide traveler, and a problem solver. Jerry was proud to see the Pope from Poland up close while visiting Rome. He was a wonderful husband and good father and example to his children and grandchildren. He was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 69 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Jerry was a Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Design Engineer, Tool & Die Maker, Certified Draftsman, and an Electrician. He was a member of the Elks Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas; a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers, and a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, as well as being Manager of Engineers for Tenneco, Inc. for 14 years. He also owned his own company, Gorton Hydraulics, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Jerry faithfully served our Country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was a Green Beret.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Dolores Gorton, sons, Mark and wife Lilibeth Gorton of Tampa, Florida, Todd and wife Renita Gorton of Jonesboro, Arkansas; daughter, Dawn Marie and husband James Logan of Viola, Arkansas, and 5 grandchildren, Gabriel Logan, Emerald Logan, Gabriella Gorton, Sierra and husband Jeremy DeRose, and Alexander Gorton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Irena Krupa, Cela Gorska, and Kazimiera (Marian) Pirog.
