February 15, 1954 - October 28, 2025

Cynthia Burnett Mathias, age 71, from Mayflower, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 28,2025 at the UAMS Hospital in Little Rock. Her Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas.

She was a member of the American Kennel Club and the Otter Hound Society. She was also a lover of exotic birds. She owned several and got so much pleasure from hearing them talk and watching all their funny antics. She was very involved in The Parrot Posse and encouraged the rescue of these beautiful creatures.

Cynthia worked until her retirement at Shelter Insurance Company. She completed 45 years of employment at Shelter. She was also an avid traveler, especially cruises. She visited many countries and met people that became lifelong friends.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Mathias, her parents, Woody and Genevieve Burnett, her sister, Nadine Gogus and her husband, Jim, her sister, Ora Lee Chudy and her husband, Anthony, and her brother-in-law, Ted Massoth.

She is survived by her fiancé, John Ott, her sister, Jacki Stafford (Jim), her sister, Ruth Massoth, 9 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, her stepdaughter, Joanne Smith, her stepson, Michael Mathias (Jennifer), her stepson, Jamie Mathias (Brittany), 6 step grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Parrot Posse, 1074 Harts Bluff Road, Wadmalaw, SC 29487.

Oh Cynthia. What can I say. I will miss you so very much. Loved bringing Boudreaux over to play with your guys and still laugh at the day he decided he could herd ducks. I miss you so much.
