Cynthia Burnett Mathias, age 71, from Mayflower, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 28,2025 at the UAMS Hospital in Little Rock. Her Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas.
Cynthia was born on February 15, 1954, to Woody and Genevieve Burnett. She was an animal lover from a very young age…especially dogs. She showed and owned many champion dogs of various breeds. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and the Otter Hound Society. She was also a lover of exotic birds. She owned several and got so much pleasure from hearing them talk and watching all their funny antics. She was very involved in The Parrot Posse and encouraged the rescue of these beautiful creatures.
Cynthia worked until her retirement at Shelter Insurance Company. She completed 45 years of employment at Shelter. She was also an avid traveler, especially cruises. She visited many countries and met people that became lifelong friends.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Mathias, her parents, Woody and Genevieve Burnett, her sister, Nadine Gogus and her husband, Jim, her sister, Ora Lee Chudy and her husband, Anthony, and her brother-in-law, Ted Massoth.
She is survived by her fiancé, John Ott, her sister, Jacki Stafford (Jim), her sister, Ruth Massoth, 9 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, her stepdaughter, Joanne Smith, her stepson, Michael Mathias (Jennifer), her stepson, Jamie Mathias (Brittany), 6 step grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Parrot Posse, 1074 Harts Bluff Road, Wadmalaw, SC 29487.

Friends for many years, Going to miss you and our phone calls.

Mrs.Cynthia will be greatly missed!!!! She was such a wonderful person. I looked forward to visiting her every time I worked storms in Little Rock, even after retirement!!!! I am honored to have gotten to work with her for some many years and enjoy her friendship.

Oh Cynthia. What can I say. I will miss you so very much. Loved bringing Boudreaux over to play with your guys and still laugh at the day he decided he could herd ducks. I miss you so much.

Our friendship has covered over 4 decades. I am so glad we got to visit at a dog show in Atlanta in recent years. I will miss knowing you're out there. Rest in true peace, my friend. I love you.

Daughter of Vicki Bell (long time friend). This saddens me deeply. She was such a strong and vibrant personality, and will be greatly missed.

I am so sad to hear of Cynthia's passing. She will be greatly missed.

I am grateful for having known Cynthia through dog shows, and our beloved Sandy. It makes me smile through my tears to know that the two of them are together again in heaven I will miss our phone calls in her visits.. Rest well, my friend and I'll see you on the other side

This is very sad news, I knew her back in the 80's -90's showing otterhounds together, enjoyed our recent chats about birds and cruising.. she will be dearly missed by many… RIP my Friend..

I am in shock and still cannot believe that she is gone.
