of North Little Rock, AR
July 24, 1955 - November 2, 2025
Walter Petty of North Little Rock left this life on November 2, 2025. He was born July 24,1955 in Hot Springs. He was the son of Harold Petty and Hilda Capps Moseley. Walter was born exactly two years to the day after his sister, Kay. They always had a special bond. He was Kay's rock.
Walter graduated from Magnet Cove High School in 1973. After graduating from mortuary school, he moved to Magnolia, Arkansas, where he worked for Lewis and Bailey Funeral Homes for the next 26 years. Changing careers, he received a Registered Nurse degree from Baptist School of Nursing in 1997. While in school, he was selected ''outstanding student'' by his peers. He was a loyal employee for 25 years at Baptist Health in numerous capacities until his retirement in September 2022. His passion for nursing was evident mentoring numerous students and co-workers.
Walter and his spouse, Jay Pace, shared 35 years together. They loved traveling and spending time at their lake house in Hot Springs. Walter was known for entertaining family and friends with his love for cooking. His dry sense of humor and light heartedness made people feel special and loved. He was always there for others, with his gift of selflessness. Not only a caregiver to patients, Walter was also a caregiver to his family and friends. Their home was always open. Not only was he a good cook he was a fantastic designer and decorated their home beautifully. Especially at Christmas, his nieces and nephews were in awe of their tree and decorations. Walter could build anything. After losing three boat houses due to weather, the only part left standing was the boat dock that Walter built.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Loretta and Walter Capps, Zella and Larkin Petty.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Jay Pace and his dear sister, Kay Petty both from North Little Rock. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Vicki Wilson (Danny) and Nancy Hutchinson (Donnie); nephews, Jay Cowley (Lucy) and Justin Cowley and niece, Jennifer Pattillo (Matt). He is also survived by ten great nieces and nephews and most importantly his special friends.
Walter Petty will be greatly missed by those who loved him dearly.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 am followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm on November 10th at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK, NLR. Be prepared to tell your favorite Walter story.

What a wonderful and diverse life Walt led! This a beautiful tribute. Thinking of you, Jay, and sending my love.

Walt and Kay have a lot of us Capps family cousins that grew up at different stages but most grew up spending time together at our grandparents' home and Kay and Walt also at their Petty grandparents 'nearby. Walt's is a profound loss that will be felt for some time. And the fact that he left us as the holiday season arrives isn't lost on us because it was his favorite time of the year. We will be thinking of him this season. ' '"🩶-Carolyn
