Stevie Lane ScarlettI am a Veteran.

June 9, 1950 - November 1, 2025

Stevie Lane Scarlett, 75, lovingly known as the Mountain Man, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he loved on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Steve is survived by his 4 children, Lena (married to Daniel), Steven (married to Vickie), Jennifer, Nathan (married to Teena), 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandkids and one grand dog. He is also survived by his brother, Billy Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 granddaughter.

Steve proudly served in the Army and was part of a shooting team in the Army Reserves where he placed 2nd in the nation. He went on from the service to become an R.N. He was known in nursing school for his photographic memory and how he slept through class and still got great grades. Steve loved adventure and the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who spent many years guiding on the White River and walleye fishing on Bull Shoals Lake, but his first love was hunting. He taught his sons and grandsons to hunt and track deer and would help them clean their first deer, but after that it was up to them to get the job done. He taught respect when it came to anything living; if you took a life, you were responsible for honoring it and nothing was to go to waste.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Hills for the wonderful care and comfort they provided to Steve and their compassion to the family, as well as Roller-Burns Funeral Home.

A private family burial will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Go rest high on that Mountain, Mountain Man.

Services in the care of Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.

You're still on my mind day and night Papa. I felt like I lost you years ago, but maybe I'm the one who pulled away! I'm so sorry Papa, I tried to honor you with your obituary, and I have been second guessing everything I said… I could have said so much more. I love you so much, and I am a bit of a mess right now. Thank you for being my Papa!
