October 15, 1931 - October 30, 2025
Hildegard Maria Then Reedy passed away in her sleep Thursday October 30th, 2025. She was born October 15th, 1931, in Dettlebach, Germany to her parents Wilhelm and Rosa Bach Then. She survived World War II Germany and the aftermath when she met and married Lowell Thomas Reedy April 9th, 1955. She was a military spouse and mother of 3 boys and 1 daughter. She supported her husband while he served in the army during Korea and Vietnam. They lived in various duty stations in Tom's military career before they were able to settle permanently in Conway, Arkansas. Hildegard is preceded in death by her husband Tom, by 41 years.
She is survived by her children Thomas Reedy Jr (sp. Betty), David Reedy (sp. Malinda), Rosemarie Reedy Travis (sp. James), Patrick Reedy (sp. Renee). 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Granddaughter. Hildegard or lovingly called Mae by many who loved her was a woman who loved fiercely all those in her care. She always had a story at her table with a cup of coffee to all who needed it. She was beloved by all who knew her. Mae passed in her bed, with her daughter, Rosemarie and granddaughter, Ashleigh attending her. It was just as she wanted and prayed for her to go in her sleep; in the house her husband built for them.
''The departure of life eclipses everything. When a death is good, the room is filled with peace and all the pain that went with it forgotten. Where there was mystery, there is knowledge, where there was fear, there is love.'' - Heidi Thomas inspired by the memoirs of Jennifer Worth.
Take comfort in His Word, 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 ''Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord for we walk by faith, not by sight but we are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore, we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.'' Hildegard has gone to be with her Lord in heaven and to join her husband after a life well lived.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for all of their assistance in caring for Hildegard in her final days. Services will be held at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. I have fond memories of BOTH your mom and dad; it's good that they are together again after so many years apart. Please take some solice in that...

Mae was a beautiful lady inside and out. Over the years I have thought of her often and remembered sitting at that little round table in her kitchen drinking coffee; listening with wonder of her stories of home. She always greeted you with a smile. Leaving was never easy at Mae's house; she would walk you down that long driveway as you tried to drive away. She never forgot a birthday; and all those she loved would find a beautifully written card in their mailbox. My thoughts and prayers are with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Aunt Mae pretty much raised me as a child. I will miss her so much. She was a beautiful person on the inside and on the outside. Much love to all the family.

Praying for peace and comfort for your family.

Mae was such a kind and gentle soul. I loved her the minute I met her. Her relationship with Tom Sr. was delightful. She would watch for him to come home for lunch and have his lunch ready and waiting for him with a large ice tea. He would tap his glass lightly on the counter she woukd smile and lovingly scurry over to refill it. She loved serving her husband and being there for her children. Such a beautiful person she will be missed. May she rest in peace. Prayers to the family
