of Cash, AR
July 6, 1936 - October 26, 2025
Joann Priest of Cash, AR, departed this life on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born in Cash, AR, on July 6, 1936, the daughter of CE ''Bill'' and Ruby Estell (Daniels) Overfield. Joann attended Grubbs High School. She was a member of Grubbs Church of Christ and attended Cash Assembly of God.
Joann married James ''Mann'' Priest at the age of 16, and they were married for 71 years. Joann and Mann farmed for several years. Joann finally took a job at Frolic Footwear and then went to General Electric. She also drove the school bus for many years, sold insurance, and was a caregiver before retiring. Joann was one of 15 children. Since she was one of the elder daughters, she had many responsibilities at a very young age, including taking care of all the younger siblings. This helped shape her strong work ethic. She was a very hard worker, and she knew how to stretch a dollar.
Joann had several hobbies. She loved sewing, crafts, gardening, canning, and cooking. Joann was a very loving and caring person. She taught Sunday school for years and was very active in her church. The love for her children and siblings was well known. Joann enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was a great cook. People would tell her she needed to patten her hushpuppy and chicken and dressing recipes, because they were the best!
Joann is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward ''Mann'' Priest; four brothers, Charles ''Bo'' Overfield, Bobby Overfield, Roger Overfield, and Rickey Overfield; five sisters, Gracie Lee Brown, Donna London, Jane Higgs, Sue Greer, and Patsy Morgan; and her parents.
Joann is survived by her children, Barry (LeeAnn) Priest of Mountain Home, Pam (Jim) Woodard of Bono, Jackie Guffey and Devan Priest, both of Cash; three grandchildren, Jill (Blake) Dement, Nathan Tate, and Sarah (Hayden) Ellis; and many more friends and loved ones.
The family would also like to express their sincere thanks to Larry and Genevieve Farley for their generosity and thoughtfulness. ''You will never know the impact you have had on our family. Thank you for helping watch over our parents. Love always.''
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, beginning at 2pm at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home (1900 W. Washington Ave. Jonesboro, AR 72501) with Ryan Lloyd and Steve Mabrey officiating. Burial will follow at Redd Cemetery in Cash.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1pm.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Keith Guffey, Tyson Trotter, Rick Higgs, Phillip Priest, Michael Bryant, and Gary Priest. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Joann's nephews.

The Mann and Joann Priest family and their four children were apart of our church family at Grubbs Church of Christ, all my teenage and young adult life!! They were both such special people and loved by all who knew them! God bless the family at this time as well as the Overfield family!! Just good people❤️🙏

We are saddened to hear of Joann's passing. She will be remembered for her smiling face and all of her activities in the community.
May the Lord wrap his loving arms around all the families and friends and know she is resting now without a care in the world.

I am sorry for the loss of your Mother and Grandmother,
