George graduated from East Marion High School in Ocala, Florida in 1951 and graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 1955. After graduation he served in the Military, entering as a 2nd Lieutenant, in the United States Army and was honorably discharged September 24, 1968, at the rank of Captain. He obtained a Master of Education from the University of Florida in 1960 and a doctorate in Communication from the University of Denver in 1974. He taught high school in MacClenny, Florida for several years and then taught Speech and was a Debate Coach as well as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Kansas City Junior College, Kansas City, Kansas. He taught for over 37 years at Miami-Dade Community College, North Campus, Miami, Florida where he was a Speech Professor, Debate Coach, and chairman of the Faculty Senate. While there, he earned recognition as a Distinguished Service Professor, a testament to his dedication to education and mentorship. Among other accomplishments at Miami-Dade Community College, he pioneered a video learning lab for his students taking his speech classes who fondly called him ''Dr Fantastic''. Dr. Brown described his career at the college as a ''joy-filled experience in which he relished seeing students learn, develop, and make changes in their lives''.

Dr. Brown and his wife Barbara's lifetime of service journey began, along with Charles and Beverly Gatton and Gene and Joyce Wharton, when they laid the groundwork for the Downtown Church of Christ in Kansas City, Missouri, back in 1963, focusing on uplifting the most vulnerable members of society. He also served as a Christian counselor and minister while teaching at the college.

In 1979, Dr Brown and his wife Barbara established Christian Homes for Children, Inc. (CHFC) in Hialeah, Florida, fueled by a profound commitment to rescue and nurture children in need. Condominiums for the children and foster and adoptive parents were built on the Hialeah Church of Christ property in Hialeah, Florida. He authored a book, ''Prayer Power'', with all proceeds supporting the ministry. He also served as a Christian counselor, interim minister at local churches of Christ, and led seminars and workshops that highlighted the transformative power of prayer. Through their years of service, they raised $20 million for the CHFC ministry. When they retired to Ormond Beach, Florida they opened a branch of Christian Homes for Children, Inc. partnering with the Holly Hill Church of Christ. Dr. Brown remained as Emeritus, former Founder of CHFC after they moved to Harding Place in Searcy, Arkansas.
In addition to the prayer power seminars, he also developed a presentation on ''Creation vs. Evolution'' which he shared at Holly Hills Church of Christ, Daytona Beach, Florida, Mount Dora Christian Children's Home, Mount Dora, Florida and Harding Place, Searcy, Arkansas and other locations.

Dr. Brown was known by family and friends to have a sense of humor, strong work ethic and a love for storytelling. His passions included teaching, mentoring, presenting seminars and preaching. In his free time, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, impersonating Mark Twain for campus events and local fund raisers and even played full court basketball until he was 72.

The family is most appreciative of the support from Randy and Sandy Reynolds, Administrators of Harding Place, Noah Washington and his team of Southern Caregivers at Harding Place, Shannon Morgan, APRN with Palliative Care and Rhonda Reely, RN and the Hospice Home Care team.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, faithful father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend of the fatherless, student of the Word and a Servant of God.

Visitation will begin at 1:00PM, Friday, October 24, 2025, with service to follow 2:00PM at the College Church of Christ, Searcy, Arkansas.
