of Little Rock, AR

October 12, 2025

Larrie Thompson, beloved mother, grandmother, devoted sister, and loyal friend, passed away on October 12, 2025. She was born Larrie Kay Gouldman in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1941. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy and the University of Dallas. In 1963, Larrie married her high school sweetheart, James Ohlemeyer, and they raised two daughters in Los Angeles, California.

In 1987, Larrie returned home to Little Rock and began a fulfilling career with Central Arkansas Library System. She rose from administrative assistant to associate director level, helping build new libraries across the region. Her work reflected her lifelong love of books and the deep friendships she formed with coworkers who shared that passion.

Larrie was known for her quiet strength, sharp mind, spunky spirit, generous heart and wicked editing skills. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Pegie Larrison, and her second husband, Ben Thompson. She is survived by her daughters, four grandchildren, and a nephew, who will always remember her kindness, wisdom, and enduring grace. In lieu of a memorial service, Larrie invites you to commit an 'extraordinary act of kindness' in her honor.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the exceptionally wonderful souls at Hospice Homecare, whose skilled care and unending compassion filled Larrie's final months with comfort and love.
