of Mayflower, AR
August 2, 1972 - October 11, 2025
With deep sorrow, we announce the terrible loss of Christopher Michael Stroud, age 53. On October 11, 2025, Chris lost a courageous battle to the cancer that ravaged his once athletic earthly form. Fighting alongside him were his loving children and partner, as well as friends and family. Chris transitioned from this life peacefully at his home in Mayflower, Arkansas.
He was born August 2, 1972 in Dallas, Texas, the son of the late Charlie Stroud. He was the second of four brothers. The family later relocated to Mayflower, Arkansas where the Stroud's planted their roots and became a well-known name. Chris would return to Texas often throughout his adult life, where he cherished hunting with his stepfather, Alan Richman, of McKinney, Texas.
Chris led an eventful life and in 1999 he decided to follow in the footsteps of Alan and dedicate himself to public service when he became a 911 Dispatcher for the Maumelle Department of Public Safety. In 2002 he was hired as a sworn Law Enforcement Officer and has served in that capacity with integrity, compassion, honor, and distinction for 23 years, earning numerous awards and citations. A few that Chris was most proud of were Officer of the year 2008, Superintendent's Hero Award 2014, and his second Officer of the year 2015. He held positions as a Patrol Officer, Detective (Criminal Investigations and Narcotics), and the one he grew to be the proudest of, School Resource Officer.
He loved fishing, basketball, hunting, the Razorbacks, Tori's softball games and Maumelle High School (MHS) basketball. At MHS he earned the honorary title of Director of Basketball Operations due to his ability to effectively provide security, record statistics, plan/pay for team meals, mentor student athletes and give coaching advice.
Chris is survived by his loving girlfriend, Kim Barksdale; his children, Alex Stroud and wife Jessica, of Little Rock, AR; Sara Germscheid and husband Steven of Benton, AR; and Caleb Stroud of Mayflower, AR; his brothers, Steven Stroud and wife Carolyn of Mayflower, AR; Jeremy Stroud and wife Jackie of Mayflower, AR; Wesley Richman and wife Sara out of Texas; Jason Fisher and wife Bonnie of Conway, AR; his buddy, Tori Barksdale of Mayflower, AR; and stepmother, Janice Stroud of Mayflower, AR.
He leaves behind special friends, Chris Lester and Jeff Senn, whom he taught much about fishing and life. In addition, he will forever live on in the memories of fellow Officers, countless students, and the many coaches whose jobs he made easier.
Chris is preceded in death by his wife, Allison Stroud and firstborn son, Joshua Stroud.
Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm, Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Mayflower, with a memorial service following at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maumelle Hornets High School Basketball Team.
