Kathleen Bourgeois

of Mountain Home, AR

July 17, 1940 - September 27, 2025

Kathleen Mary (nee Schrum) Bourgeois passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 at Hospice House of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Kathleen Mary Schrum was born July 17, 1940 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to the late Wilbur Thomas and late Kathleen Ana (nee Dunlap) Schrum. Post-deceased by five days was her faithful husband, Irving Jules Bourgeois of Mountain Home. Preceded in death are her sister, Eileen Marie Hanna and her brother, Wilbur Thomas Schrum, Jr. Surviving are her sister, Regina Macey of Latrobe, cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her newly discovered half-brothers, Charles Baker of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania and Thomas S. Dinger of Cherokee County, North Carolina.

Kathleen graduated from Derry Area High School outside Latrobe and worked at Vanadium Alloys Steel Co., 1958-1961. She further pursued and graduated with an Associate's Degree at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina and then became employed as the Executive Assistant at Louisiana Offshore Oil Port LLC (LOOP) in 1979 and retired in 2003.

She also volunteered for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the American Red Cross. She was highly active in all Catholic Parishes where she attended, including the schools, fundraising and outreach committees. Prior to moving to Mountain Home and becoming a parishioner at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, she served as an Eucharistic Minister at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando, Florida and developed a close spiritual friendship with the Senior Moments with God Ministry.

Kathleen was predeceased by her first husband, the late Lt. Col. Joseph G. Roman (USMC Retired). They were married in 1961 in Latrobe. As a Marine Corps aviator's wife, she faithfully kept ''the home fires burning'', raising three children during two tours of the Vietnam War and other military separations. Surviving are their children, Joseph G. Roman Jr. and his wife, Brenda Martin of Luling, Louisiana, Lisa M. Roman of Titusville, Florida and Kathleen A. Roman of Titusville. Surviving also are her cherished 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

In 2007, Kathleen married Irving Jules Bourgeois (USAF Retired) in Orlando. They had met at a Good Shepherd Catholic Church Senior Moments with God Ministry dance and from there, they found themselves spiritually inseparable, even up to their deaths five days apart. Surviving are Kathleen's stepchildren, Vallene (Edward) Danhauer of Mountain Home, Yvonne Steenken of Columbia, South Carolina and Allan Bourgeois and his wife, Dorothy of Lee, Florida. Surviving also are her cherished seven step-grandchildren, thirteen step great-grandchildren and 6 step great-great-grandchildren.

As perfectly put by Kathleen's housekeeper, Cindy Gunter, ''She was the most easiest to Love.''

A visitation will be held between 4-6:00pm with a rosary to follow on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, for which live streaming will be available on the church's website at www.spccmtnhome.org. Interment will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Orlando, Florida. Arrangements are under the care of Baldwin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Hospice House of the Ozarks in Mountain Home. Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home.

Our deepest sympathies to family and friends. We were very blessed to get to meet Kay and Irving this past year. They truly felt like family to both of us and they will be missed. Kay was a beautiful lady and it was a blessing to get to know her.

We were saddened to hear of Kay's death - and then to realize that Irving died so soon afterwards. It somehow turned into a beautiful journey that they were now taking together. When Kay moved to Orlando, FL, she found her way into our Paraclete Prayer Group where we welcomed her with open arms. Not only was Kay just precious, she had wonderful ideas to share with us. We felt like we had known her for years. There were around 20 in our group - including a very kind widower named Irving. What a joy it was when - after some years - Kay and Irving decided to marry. We were overjoyed at their wedding, and our Prayer Group continued on doing God's work. Eventually, we grew into a group for Seniors - Senior Moments with God - and they were a big part in beginning this group. Soon, though, Orlando traffic was getting too much - and Mountain Home, AR was calling them to the wide open spaces. We had to be happy for them, but oh, how they were missed...and they will never be forgotten.
