of Horseshoe Lake, AR
September 3, 1962 - September 25, 2025
William "Billy" Clayton Rains, of Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2025, at the age of 63.
Born on September 3, 1962, in Jamestown, Kentucky, Billy was the beloved son of Barbara Gayle Hahne and the late Travis Rains. He was preceded in death by his father, and is survived by his loving mother, Barbara, his brother, Danny Rains (Kim) and his nephews Chase and Jacob Rains.
Billy was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in the quiet of the woods and the thrill of the catch whether he was fishing, hunting, or, as many around town would remember fondly, spotted squirrel hunting. His love for animals, especially dogs, was evident to all who knew him.
A lifelong collector of just about anything and everything, Billy had a unique eye for treasures and the stories they held. But what he collected most generously were friendships. Always willing to lend a hand, he was known for his kindness, loyalty, and the ability to make anyone laugh. He was the best joke teller around, and if you were lucky enough to be in his presence, chances are you were doubled over with laughter.
Billy's warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Billy's honor to the Ronald McDonald House or the American Cancer Society.
So sorry to hear about Billy! He was a hoot, always at the house when I lived at the lake. Really a great guy! He will truly be missed! Prayers for the family!

Saddened to hear of this. Blessings and strength to his family at this time.
So sorry for your loss and praying for you and family ❤️🙏
Billy was one of the few people I would put in my inner circle of friends; he was a ''True'' friend. A True friend doesn't ask why, he just does it for you, anything big or small, easy or hard, and he never expected anything in return. However, I am happy that over the years, I was fortunate enough to be able to be present when he needed a couple favors here and there.
I had known Billy a little over thirty years when I heard of his passing yesterday. It took me back - like flashing through a series of videos - that smile, one of the most genuine smiles I've ever seen, would always make you smile. No matter what was happening around you, you began to smile as you talked to Billy. As we both got older, years would go between us meeting somewhere by chance. We'd walk up and hug each other, he'd usually lift me from the floor, and say, ''little girl, when you gonna grow up''; squirming around in my thirties I'd say, ''Billy Rains! Put me down! I am grown!'' Of course, he'd put me down, just get serious and say, ''well, you're not any taller, so you're still just Little Sis!''
I will miss just knowing that I'll never run into Billy again.
For the family - I loved Travis like a father and Ms. Barb had her hands full trying to keep her three boys in line. I think all I ever said to her was ''Yes, ma'am!'' and ''Thank you''. For you all, may God bring you Peace and Grace during these difficult times.

I never saw Billy without a smile on his face. He always had something funny to say to keep you laughing for a long time

We can not think of Billie and not get a huge smile on our faces. He was so funny. He cared about everyone and there was nothing he would not do for anyone he knew or not. He loved his family purely and protectively as they loved him. He loved all animals and took in alot of them. It was beautiful to watch. Jerry and I will miss our fond neighbor terribly. My Prayers are with Ms. Gayle, Danny, & Family.
I admired how Billy treated people, loved his friends and neighbors as well as how honest and funny he was. I am certain there is a place next to Jesus in heaven for this man. I would like to think he has been reunited with his father; who was also a great man, father, and friend to many.
I will always cherish the memories made with Billy and will forever keep those memories in my thoughts. He will be sorely missed.
To Gayle and Danny: We are so sorry for your loss. Billy was a really good guy! He leaves behind many people who genuinely liked him! Prayers for all of your family!
