of Little Rock, AR
August 6, 1943 - September 23, 2025
Connie Jo (Horton) James, age 82, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Born on August 6, 1943, in Harrison, Arkansas, she was lovingly raised from infancy by her parents, Jay and Sloanie (Jackson) Brown.
Connie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, Russell James; her parents; and her siblings Bernice Young, Frankie Workman, Jimmy Brown, and Margie Guthrie.
She is survived by her brother, James "Butch" Horton and wife Johanette of Oklahoma; her children, Russell "Randy" James (Lydia) of Little Rock, Sherry Tackett of Marshall, and Jeff James (Jennifer) of Maumelle; along with her beloved grandchildren Tommy Stines (Heather), Christy Amunwa (Jason), Brandy Tackett, Clay James, Isabella James, Amelia James, Carley France (Ken), Dawson James (Sarah), Amanda Mitts and a host of great-grandchildren.
Connie was a homemaker whose warm heart was often felt through the meals she cooked-especially her famous chocolate rolls, known far and wide in Searcy County. She loved working in her garden, playing Bingo, and sharing laughs with friends and family. At just five feet tall, Connie had a wit and sass that made her presence feel much larger, and her fierce loyalty and deep love for her family will never be forgotten.
Above all, Connie cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her laughter, love, and spirited personality have left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. at Marshall Assembly of God, with Brother Darin Holliman officiating.
Connie's legacy of love, family, and laughter will live on through the many lives she touched.
