January 24, 1934 - September 21, 2025

John Mac Hayse was born on a farm in Kiowa County, Kansas in 1934, the second of six kids. He discovered a love of farming at a young age while helping his dad. He also took his turn driving the school bus in high school since his house was at the end of the line.

After graduating from Mullinville high school in the early 1950s, he went to college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma and graduated with a double major in math and physics.

He then spent the required two years of service in the army. He ended up working at White Sands missile range in New Mexico.
On a trip back to Kansas, he found that Mary Smith had ''grown up real good'' and she became his wife in 1959.

They lived in El Paso, Texas, where their three kids were born and then moved to the cooler climate of High Rolls, New Mexico. He quickly realized he would rather farm than work a desk job, so they bought a farm in Tularosa, New Mexico, where they lived and raised the kids.
In the late 1980s, they sold the farm and traveled full-time in their RV. As they traveled, they worked at several different national parks like Yellowstone and Zion. They enjoyed winters in Yuma, AZ.

One of their favorite places they discovered while traveling was Mountain View, Arkansas. They especially liked the music on the Square.

After Mary passed away, John stayed in Mountain View and soon joined in the music with his guitar.

He made many good friends and memories while there. He will be missed, but is now happy in heaven with Mary and the rest of his friends and family who've gone on before.

Burial will be in Greensburg, Kansas, where as he often quipped, ''I'll lie forever between my wife and my mother-in-law.''

See you soon, Daddy!
