Calvin Dale Carter passed away on September 8, 2025.
He was born on October 8, 1944 in Humnoke, Arkansas to Clyde and Rosie Rockwell-Carter.
Dale left home at the age of 8, which was very hard on him, and lived at the Arkansas School of the Blind in Little Rock. Dale did get three months out in the summer and all holidays. He took this time to go back to Humnoke to work on the family farm.
He was a graduate of the School for the Blind in 1964. Dale was trained to do concession stand work. Dale got a job at Aerojet in Batesville. He then moved to Batesville where he met the love of his life, Linda Horton. Dale and Linda were married in June 1968.
Dale is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Horton Carter; two sons, Dwayne Carter (Katie) of Sulphur Rock, Jason Carter (Janet) of Southside; seven grandchildren, Craig Richardson (Jessica), Leah Bertham (Derick), Dustin Carter (Lacy), Kelly Cox (Matt), Austin Carter, Tyler Carter, and Sierra Carter; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifton and Avin Carter of Humnoke, Patricia Nobles of Stuttgart; one sister-in-law, Donna Sue Carter, and several nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Carter.
Pallbearers are Craig Richardson, Dustin Carter, Austin Carter, Tyler Carter, Will Horton, and Ernie Winkle. Honorary pallbearers are Lonnie Turney, Gail Weaver, Charles Shirley, Steve Moody, and Darrell Crabtree.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10:00am at Sulphur Rock Baptist Church with Chuck Miller officiating. Burial will be at Mac's Chapel.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
