Robert Wayne ThompsonI am a Veteran.

of Marion, AR

October 24, 1948 - September 5, 2025

Robert Wayne Thompson, 76, of Marion, Arkansas passed away on September 5, 2025 in Southaven, MS. He was born on October 24, 1948 to Roland and Thelma Thompson.

Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, carrying the values of service, loyalty and honor with him throughout his life. He was also a dedicated member of Local 90, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of his fellow brothers and sisters. On December 17, 1982 he married the love of his life, Dianne Thompson and together they shared 42 years of marriage filled with laughter, family and devotion.

Robert was known for his love of Westerns, his quick temper balanced by an even quicker smile and his playful sense of humor. At little league games, he was the kind of man who would keep an umpire honest, showing the same passion and fairness that defined his character.

Above all, Robert was happiest when surrounded by his family. He loved nothing more than playing with his grandchildren, lighting up whenever they came around and giving each one a nickname that became a treasured part of their bond. His heart was always open to family and friends, and he never hesitated to lend a hand when someone needed him.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Thompson; his children, Timothy Thompson (Alanna), Shay Eaves and Sam Butler; his grandchildren, Evan, Everleigh and Easton Thompson; Shelby, Ben and Mary Elizabeth Oliver; Kristopher Hollingsworth (Carlee) and Austin Newman. He was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Thelma Thompson; his daughter, Shawna Givens; his brothers, Perry, Roy Lee, Freddie and Eugene Thompson and his sisters, Janie Deaton and Mary May.

Robert was a faithful member of Restoration Life Church, where his presence and fellowship will be deeply missed. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi, as well as Dr. Adams and the staff at the VA Hospital, for the compassionate care they provided.

Robert will be remembered for his humor, honesty and good heart. His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the lessons he taught and the laughter he shared.
