Shay Wilson Raycher

of Conway, AR

July 29, 1969 - August 29, 2025

July 29, 1969 - August 29, 2025

Shay Wilson Raycher was born on July 29, 1969 to Jim and Barbara Wilson of Searcy, Arkansas.
A 1987 graduate of Searcy High, Shay attended Hendrix College to study accounting. After realizing that career path would not be her future, but being one to follow through, she graduated with her accounting degree and continued on to earn her Juris Doctor in 1994 at the UALR William Bowen School of Law, serving on the Law Review for her last two years of school. This eventually led her to working at the Arkansas Court of Appeals for a 28 year long career under 5 different judges. She loved her work and even more so, the people she worked with.
Shay was known to be a collector of many things. An avid antique dealer, she was a familiar face among many auction houses and estate sales. She had an affinity for vintage toys, cast iron coin banks and natural wooden furniture. Shay had recently begun a new collection, one of stamps in her passport. Her deep love of travel had finally taken her abroad for a tour of Europe that she could not tell enough people about.
Shay never met a stranger who was allowed to stay a stranger for long. She had an ability to talk to anyone who would listen, one she attributed to her Duncan genes. Friends would be sure to not have anywhere to be early in the morning following a long night of conversation with Shay - she would chat anyone into the early hours. This night-owl consistency made her a dependable late night call, something her children took advantage of often.
Shay was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vernon and Wyndelene Duncan & Graham and Corrine Wilson; as well as one nephew, Johnathan Cole Slough. Shay is survived by her parents; sister, Nicole Slough (TJ); children, Sayer and Hayden Raycher and niece, Reagan Slough, as well as a host of family and friends.
Her family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Conway Regional ICU and Gentiva Hospice teams for their exceptional care given to Shay and the family.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Conway on Friday, September 5, at 3:00 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shay's memory to Arkansas Children's Hospital, the Heber Springs Humane Society or a charitable organization of your choice.

Barbara, Jim, Nicole and Family,
There are just no words to express the sadness I feel for all of you. Your Shay was an extraordinary person and every time we ran into one another, she seemed excited to see me and wanted to visit. It always made me so happy. She excelled in everything she did and we all were always so proud of her.
Please know that you are in my heart and in my prayers and I hope the love of all your friends and our Lord, Jesus Christ, will comfort you and uphold you as you face the days ahead without her.
With Love and Prayers

Barbara, Jim, Nicole and family,
As witnessed by the extensive outpouring here of love for all of you and the wonderful words of kindness for your precious Shay, there is little I can add but I must say every time I'd run into her, she seemed so pleased to see me and always had time for a visit. Both of your girls have always been superior in every way. This leaves an empty space in our hearts and lives and my prayer will be that the life she lived is of great comfort to you. She led an exemplary life and the reflection is on you and our lord Jesus Christ whom she loved all her life.
With love, Robbye

My heart breaks for the loss of this beautiful soul on this earth, but an angel gained by our Heavenly Father.
Shay was such a sweet and vivacious girl growing up. Her smile and laughter was contagious . My family enjoyed many three wheeler trips, impromptu get togethers, and our children always enjoyed being together. My prayers are with Shay's entire family during this difficult time and the coming days. May God bless you with his sweet love.

My heart aches for Shay's children, Sayer and Hayden, also Nicole, and her family, and Shay's parents. The tributes say it all. From early childhood to teen years to college to career and motherhoodโ€ฆ Shay touched so many lives with her jubilant, positive, and easy going nature. I first came to know Shay when our children were in grade school. More recently, a neighbor of my good friend Ericka French, I had the good fortune to have some of those (what turned out to be) late night chats. What started as a happy hour ended up concluding post-midnight. The time flew with great and insightful conversation. She didn't chit chat about meaningless blither. She had a broader, more important and thoughtful agenda. Never one to judge or look down on anyone, Shay always saw the positive in people and was very open-minded. She was curious and always learning. She cared deeply and from all these comments surely knows how deeply everyone cared for her. We can all learn from Shay and how she treated others, how she loved others. What a treasure we lost.

"She loved her work, and even more so, the people she worked with."

Having had the great privilege to work with Shay at the Court of Appeals for more than a dozen years, I can say with certainty that she served the People of Arkansas with excellence and integrity. Always. Shay's dedication to public service, and the courteous and complete manner in which she provided it for nearly three decades, is a model the rest of us will strive to meet---now and in the future.

To Shay's Family:

I am sorry for your deep loss. I will hold Shay in the pantheon of great lawyers this State has produced. More important, Shay will be remembered as a loving mother and engaging friend. She would bring a smile to my face whenever our paths crossed. I will miss her. Godspeed Shay.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, and Nicole,
It sounds so cliche, but I cannot even begin to put into words how sorry I am to hear of your loss. Although, I always knew of her through you and Searcy ties, Shay was seven years younger, so I did not know her well. However, I recently had the opportunity to chat with her at a small birthday party. After reading her wonderful tribute/obituary, and despite the age difference, I think we could have been great friends. It seemed we shared many of the same interests. I am so happy she got to experience the trip of her dreams; so many will die with that one still on their bucket lists. For that I know you are grateful as well. May you be blessed with many heart-warming thoughts of your time together and the peace in knowing she is in a better place. You will be in Eddie and my prayers! Dana
