of Little Rock, AR
September 26, 1940 - August 27, 2025
James W. Gee of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on August 27, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1940, to Ollie and Daisy Gee.
A proud graduate of Little Rock Central High School (Class of 1957), Jim went on to attend Little Rock University, where he met his bride of nearly 60 years, Betty. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and devoted 35 years to the Arkansas Highway Department, where he contributed to the design and upkeep of many of the state's highways and bridges.
Jim was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, where he sang in the choir (if he made it on time) and served in many capacities, including Chairman of the Board, the building committee, and even the occasional Sunday morning bus driver. He loved the outdoors- spending cool days hunting quail with his bird dogs, and hot days growing an overabundance of tomatoes at the garden. He was the Midnight Pickler- preparing his famous pickled okra, a legendary ski-boat driver, and then sometimes he liked to just "sit real still.''
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, and his beloved wife, Betty. He is survived by his brother, Bob; his children David (Allison), Melaney (Lea), and Amanda; and four grandchildren, Max, Maddie, Hattie, and Elizabeth.
Jim's life will be celebrated on Thursday, September 4, 2025, beginning with a graveside service at 3:00pm at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, followed by a visitation and reception at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Our thoughts, love and prayers are with you. So many wonderful memories! Jan
