Joyce Hayes

of Conway, AR

October 25, 1946 - August 25, 2025

Joyce Irene Hayes, 78, of Conway, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2025. She was born on October 25, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska to Robert and Ruby Wiggans.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Robert Wiggans; her mother, Ruby Wiggans; her sister, Linda Kay Wiggans and her son, John "Johnny" Hayes III.

Joyce attended South High where she was in the band. She could play the flute, piccolo and the xylophone. It was in the band that she met John Hayes Jr. While in high school, she started working at Sears. She graduated in 1964 and on December 17, 1964 Joyce married John Hayes Jr. in Red Oak, Iowa. They were married for 60 years and 8 months.

Joyce worked at Sears until her family moved to Conway, Arkansas in 1989. She then began her career at the University of Central Arkansas as a custodian. Her dedication led to a promotion and she became a service shift supervisor. She was also given the opportunity to attend seminars, which helped her improve her job performance. Joyce later retired from the University of Central Arkansas.

Joyce treasured spending time with her family, especially at football games, fairs and the zoo. She was very close to her family when they were younger. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint. Joyce sewed clothes from a pattern for her children when they were growing up. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John Hayes Jr.; her children, JoAnna Hayes Gregersen and James Hayes and her grandchildren, Jake Hayes, Jax Hayes, Jarrett Hayes, Jase Hayes, Joey Hayes and Sierra Hayes; as well as Jason Allen, Anna Gregersen, Jacob Gregersen, Rebecca White, Caleb Bailey and Audrey Reeves and her great-grandchildren, Penelope White, Tira Goodrich, Nial Frazier, Benjamin Frazier and Zoey Bailey.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas.

Burial will take place at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 2, 2025.

We loved and appreciated the love we received from Joyce. Even though we weren't able to be with all of you as much as we wanted, our hearts remained with you. Our hearts break to have the matriarch of our family move on. I love each one of you and hope you know Shelley and I are there for you always.
