Wilma Jean Whitney Thompson, 82, of Lake City passed to her heavenly home on August 26, 2025 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born June 23, 1943 to the late Sherman and Helen Whitney in Dixie. Wilma was a proud graduate of Dixie High School, class of 1962. She was a faithful member of Refuge Church of Lake City. Wilma lived all her life in the Dixie and Lake City areas. She was a factory worker until she and her husband opened "Battery and Parts" of Jonesboro and Paragould. After opening the business, she worked with her husband until his passing in 2006. She continued to work in the business with her son until 2024.
Preceded in death parents; her husband, Harvey Lee Thompson and in laws, William and Jessie Ruth Thompson.
Survived by daughter, Janis (Harvey) Faulkner of Caraway; son, Darrell (Kristi) Thompson of Paragould; grandchildren, Whitney (Zach) Guiltner, Josh (Allie) Thompson and Jessie Grace Thompson all of Paragould; great grandchildren, Memphis Guiltner, Rhylee Thompson, Stetson Thompson and Magnolia Guiltner all of Paragould; bonus grandchildren, Dalton, Maleigh, Macie Short and Lainey Walling of Caraway; brothers, Jimmy Whitney of Paragould, Gary (Debbie) Whitney of Dixie; sister, Mitzie (Jerry) Whitten of Brookland; sister-in-law, Eunice (Jake) Gilley of Lake City; brother-in-law, Earl (Elouise) Thompson of Jonesboro and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 am at Refuge General Baptist Church, 5002 AR-18, Lake City, AR with Steve Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens, Paragould.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave., Jonesboro
Pallbearers will be Zach Guiltner, Adam Whitney, Cody Thompson, James Whitney, Josh Thompson and Alex Whitten.
In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider the Thompson Family Memorial fund, Refuge Church, Lake City.
Heaven just gained another angel. I remember growing up over on the Levee & seeing your beautiful red hair & wishing mine could look like that. Mom use to tell me you would come to our house & carry me around. You are going to be missed. Thanks for the memories
