Willene Mooningham

of Little Rock, AR

November 22, 1939 - August 18, 2025

Willene Wright Mooningham, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Allen, Texas, on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 85.

Willene was born in Russellville, AR, one of twelve children born to William T. and Zelma Clare Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Euel Wright, Sue Nixon, Betty McCollum, Helen Mowrer, Earnest Wright and her son Dennis Acklin, JR. She is survived by her husband Thomas E. Mooningham, daughter Debbie Martin and siblings Bill Wright, Clara Brickler, Bobbie Palmer, Linda May, Jerry Wright, and Judy Anderson.

Willene was blessed with a marriage of 55 years to the love of her life Thomas E. Mooningham. Together they blessed others with a long lasting and meaningful marriage built on their faith in God and their Lord Jesus Christ. Together they became cherished members of their church and the greater Little Rock community. Five years ago, they moved to Allen, TX to be close to her daughter and immediate family.

Over her life, she forged a legacy of servitude to those in her immediate and extended family, church family, co-workers and others in need. Willene loved cooking for others, giving gifts (and shopping for the gifts), throwing parties, planning banquets or simply giving her time and resources.

And she especially loved her children Debbie Martin and Denny Acklin and her grandchildren Megan Keeton, and Taylor Delk and her great grandchild Maren Keeton. Although her presence at holidays, Sunday dinners and family celebrations will truly be missed, her legacy will remain: Nothing is more important than family. Nothing feeds the soul more than loving and serving others.

Willene was a wonderful friend, the very best. No one worked harder or did more for her family, friends, and church than Willene. She touched my life and my family's life in such a special way. We will never forget her and all she did for us.
