Virginia Kathleen Collier

of North Little Rock, AR

August 13, 1948 - August 11, 2025

Virginia Kathleen Collier was born on August 13, 1948 in Kennett, Missouri and passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025 at the age of 76. A wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother without equal, she was always there whenever needed, and admired and loved by those who knew her.

Born to Thomas and Maxine Rogers, she along with her older sister Betty Lybarger, and younger brothers Danny and Tommy Rogers, traveled frequently during her childhood and she adopted a strong work ethic at an early age and never forgot it. After graduating Oak Grove High School in 1966, it was at a night out at a local wrestling match with her Dad that she would meet the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Collier.
The two were married on November 10, 1967 and the following year welcomed their son, Tim and a few short years later a daughter Shelley was born and the four of them lived happily on Boyer Street in Rose City, North Little Rock.

During this time Virginia had worked at a number of jobs including Baldwin Electronics and different banks but it was after the birth of Shelley that she found work at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, starting at the bottom and over the next 42 years saw her rise to Management and a vital part of the company. In 2016, Virginia retired from Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield and found her spot at home with Jerry as the family grew over the years.

Tim married Angie and had a son, Chris. Shelley married Paul and had two sons, Jakson and Riley. The three grandsons becoming Virginia's most favorite things in the world, and any time spent with them on a multitude of trips ranging from Branson to Destin and in between. Later she would become a great-grandmother when Chris and his wife Nayeli had two daughters, Olivia and Isabella. They would also capture Virginia's heart, and the holidays with everyone together were always a special time.

Over the past 6 years, Virginia battled cancer and fought with everything she had. She would eventually win, but the fight had taken so much from her and over the past few months she fought her hardest but it came at a cost. After three days in Hospice care, Virginia passed away peacefully leaving behind family and friends who will always miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Maxine Rogers, and brother Danny Rogers.

Whether it was at work or out at one of the venues that Jerry would play (and Virginia would dance), she was known to everyone as the person you could always count on for anything. She would stop and help you no matter the problem, and the world was a better place with her in it.

She will be missed, but never, ever forgotten.

Virginia reached out to me when she learned that we had a project in common at ABCBS, even though we didn't work in the same department. Her deep kindness, tremendous knowledge, and sunny attitude helped me through that project and long after. I can still hear her wonderful laugh. RIP, Virginia.

Virginia is one of the few adults who even when I first met her as then a young soldier on the verge of exiting the military. She was always so kind and an ever present force with incredible love for everybody around her. It was a privilege for her to consider me an extension of family through Paul and Shelley. Virginia and Jerry always made me feel like family. I've never known somebody to fight so hard to be there for her family, she was the living embodiment of strength.

My heart goes out to Jerry, Tim and Shelley along with all their families. Family always meant a lot to Virginia, and I know she meant the world to her family.
I am thankful for all of the memories of summer visits on Boyer St. And even remember the time when she and I rode the Big Bend rollercoaster together at Six Flags Over Texas.
Thank you Sisser for all the memories!! You are so loved and so missed!
