Guy Merritt Veazey, 88, of Benton, Arkansas passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 10, 2025 at his home in Benton.

Guy was born in Texarkana, Texas to Guy Moses Veazey and Gussie Ruth Hill Veazey on March 2, 1937. He went to high school at Mabelvale High School and graduated in 1954. He worked as a computer programmer for the State of Arkansas and retired in 2004. He enjoyed bowling and once bowled a perfect 300 game. He lived a life of service to God. He led music at church and drove the church bus to pick up neighborhood children on Sundays.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Veazey and stepson, Doug Kennedy.

Funeral service will be held at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Marcus Blakley of Forrest Hills Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery in Saline County. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Guy was a wonderful man and very talented. We used to play dominos with Him and Jo when they lived near us by Overcup lake north of Morrilton. We also were blessed to attend church with them as well. The world has lost a good man but heaven has gained a dandy. Prayers for the family!

Guy was a lovely quiet man. He was brilliant and highly respected at work. After many years of working as a programmer for Arkansas DHS, he transferred to Arkansas Dept of Information Systems. He quickly moved up into the System Analyst Department. He was always very calm and quietly went about solving problems. Guy and I were 3rd cousins who didn't meet until he came to work at DIS but enjoyed knowing each other for many years after that. He was proud of his family and his faith. Just a good man.

Bro Guy was a really great man who loved his Lord & Savior and his family very much. All of the times that I was able to be in Bro Guy and Jo Ella's home, I was treated very kindly, just as if I was family. I am sorrowful for the loss, but Heaven has gained another beautiful voice for its choir.

I remember the good times we had growing up and how much your dad was involved in your lives. I remember the trip we took driving through the Ouachita Mountains and up Rich Mountain before going to Bogg Springs for summer camp. We drove up there last summer and it brought back those memories. I know he's happier now than he ever was, it's just hard for you not having him here, but one day… one day!
