Mary Sue Watters

Mary S. Holden Watters, 86, of Searcy, Arkansas went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 23, 2025. Mary was born in Joy, Arkansas to Joe and Janie Patterson Holden on June 27, 1939. She was the 10th child (of 11) born into the Holden family.

In 1955, she married Claude Watters. Mary and Claude were happily married for 62 years. Together they raised two children, Dalana and Rickey. Mary was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed all types of sports, especially basketball and football. Mary also enjoyed church and spending time with family. Mary was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church for over 70 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Dalana Copeland and son, Rickey Watters; three grandchildren, Brack Watters, Richard (Jamie) Copeland and Kathryn (Alex) Knapp; four great grandchildren, Emma Copeland, Grace Copeland, William Knapp, Matthew Knapp and one sister, Betty (Gerald) Barker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Watters; parents, Joe and Janie Patterson Holden; six brothers, Ray Holden, Floyd Holden, Max Holden, Marshall Holden, Nelson Holden, Gerald Holden and three sisters, Opal Terry, Molene Barnett and Verdie Vest.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Joy, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery. All services under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy.

Ms. Watters was a great person. I have lived by the Watters for 23 years and have grown quite close to the family. She was very dear to myself and my family. She will be greatly missed. We had some great talks and many laughs together. I will forever hold her smile in my heart.

Such a beautiful woman. Always a presence in her children's and Grandchildren's lives. She is reunited again with the love of her life
