January 25, 1944 - July 22, 2025
On January 25, 1944, most would think that it was a normal Tuesday, but for the Logan family It was the day that Robert Daniel Logan completed their family. Danny, as he would lovingly be called, was the first boy in the family. As a young child, you would think he was born outside in the woods. The amount of time he spent tying ropes to trees and exploring the wilderness of Arkansas, one would think he had his wilderness badge. The woods of Arkansas were his happy place, but if you kept him inside for too long the bull in the china shop would take ahold of him.
His brothers and sisters would often describe him as a trickster and a gentle soul at the same time. During his adolescent phase, he was in love with working on cars, like his father did. Little did they realize a bull in the china shop would not have the patience to sit and work but rather take the tools into the woods and explore his options.
During his young adult years, he would often be found outside bailing hay. Cars were never far from his mind and his desire to learn how to drive was fierce. A seizure disorder prevented Danny from getting a driver's license, but it certainly didn't stop his life. If anything, his life became richer. It allowed Danny to slow down and enjoy the small things in life that ultimately were what he would be known for. He never met a stranger; he would give his last dollar to help someone else and would be the first to stand up to help anyone in need. He was able to get his drive time in by mowing the grass on the riding lawn mower and taking the mule up to get the mail from the mailbox.
As an adult, his love of being in control of the channel changer allowed those who got to spend quality time with him the ability to be completely versed in all Disney cartoons. Food became a favorite pastime for Danny in his later years. His younger sister's cooking was the first thing he would ask for when she came home to visit from Tennessee. Home cooking was never lost on him, but please believe a bag of white powdered donuts was never far behind that home cooked meal.
Danny's love for his family was what centered him in his life. He loved all of them with such openness and appreciation that he never forgot to say "I love you" before hanging up the phone or telling one of his many nieces or nephews that he was so proud of them. Christmas never went by without a special $20 bill to remind them that he was thinking of them.
Towards the end of Danny's beautiful life, he unexpectedly fell and broke his hip. He went through the surgery with flying colors but needed rehab services. While in the rehab, his ability to never meet a stranger was often talked about among the nurses and members of the staff, Danny was the light in a place that normally would bring sorrow to those who were there. Those of us still on Earth will always remember the morning of July 22nd as the day of his passing, but we know that Danny entered heaven on his youngest brother's birthday and what a special birthday present that must have been. Danny is living a wonderful life in heaven with his mother, father, two brothers and oldest sister, but don't think he isn't driving all of them around looking at how beautiful heaven must be.
