James Clifton Veteto, 87, of Jonesboro passed away at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. James was a Christian who loved the Lord and faithfully attended Nettleton Baptist Church for many years. He was born in Hergett, AR on September 21, 1937 to Henry and Jewell Veteto.
He went to school at Bay and Jonesboro schools, leaving jr. high school at the end of the 8th grade to take a full-time job with St. Bernards Hospital. While working there as an orderly, he became the first male LPN enrolled at Jonesboro School of Practical Nursing. He went on to work as an LPN at St. Bernards until his retirement.
James was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty (Stalcup) Veteto; 3 sons, Darrell and his late wife, Debbie, Keith and wife, Cindy, Michael and wife, Sharon; 3 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 8 great grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Veteto and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave, with Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery, Brookland.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1:00 pm.
The family appreciates the care and support given by Ridgecrest Health and Rehab and Dierksen Hospice.

Your house has been a second home to me for my entire life. Thank you very much for letting me be your fourth boy for all these years. I had lots and lots of good times and many good meals thanks to Aunt Betty. I will miss you singing Happy Birthday to me each year. I am glad you were a part of my life and will miss miss you very much. I love you Uncle James.
