Mary Elsie Grubbs Moore, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025 in Covington, Tennessee. She was born on June 26, 1936 in Bay Village, Arkansas to the late Lonnie and Rhoda Grubbs. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who devoted her life to loving and caring for her family.
Mary worked for many years at Addison Shoe Factory, where she was admired for her strong work ethic and dedication. She retired at the age of 72. Outside of work, Mary's greatest joys were her family, her many friends and the simple pleasures of life. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Moore; her parents, Lonnie and Rhoda Grubbs; her brother, Griffin Grubbs; her sisters, Nell Sanders, Aline Mathis, Peggy Gouge and Lula Jean Huey; her children, Marty Turpen and Ray Webb Jr.; her great-grandchild, Jasmine Denise Bailey and her nephew, Dennis Wirth.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Dempsey Turpen (Peggy), Janie Hendrix (Donald), Lavonda Penny (Jim), Diana Teel (Wayne), Randy Mathis and Tim Mathis; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and her loving puppy, Bella.
Mary also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Her legacy of love, resilience and unwavering care will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
