of Jonesboro, AR
September 9, 1935 - July 10, 2025
Gerald Leslie Woodruff, 89, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born September 9, 1935, to Leonard Leslie and Hazel Woodruff. Gerald was known by many in his community from his years of working at the U.S Post Office where he retired as a Postmaster. As a young man he served in the Army for four years. Gerald was a part of history by serving during the time the military integrated for the first time. He loved learning history, hunting, being outdoors, riding his 4-wheeler, collecting coins, and being with family. Gerald loved the time he spent with his grandchildren, but most of all, his pride was making sure his beloved wife, Beulah, of 69 years was never in need of anything. He and Beulah were faithful servants at the Washington Avenue Church of Christ their entire lives. Gerald was a deacon, elder, and worker. He often mowed yards, cleaned, led visitations, and picked up the elderly for church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beulah Woodruff, his parents, and one sister, Janice Williams.
Those left to cherish Gerald's memory are his son, Allen Woodruff, daughter, Ronda Woodruff McGrew (Tad); grandchildren: Magen Busby, Luke McGrew, Levi McGrew; great-grandchildren, Colby Busby, Oaklee Busby, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday July 16, 2025, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home at 2:00pm with a visitation preceding from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.
Those to serve as pallbearers are Luke Allen McGrew, Levi McGrew, Chris Busby, Darell Settles, Brooks Cravens, and Anthony Watson.
Gerald Woodruff was always friendly, polite and patient. He brightened the day for everyone who used the ASU post office. Ronda and Luke and Levi have lost a fine father and grandfather.
On behalf of the Carl Wolford children we offer our sincere condolences on the loss of Mr Woodruff. We remember him from the days at the Post Office where he and our dad worked together. With our deepest sympathies to each of you may GOD wrap HIS loving arms around you and give you each comfort.
I have known the family for many years and I hope they can find comfort in knowing Gerald is wonderfully happy in the Arms of God.
