Herman Clayton Wooten Jr., more affectionally known as ''Bubba'', gained his wings on July 11, 2025. Bubba was born on November 5, 1943 to Herman C Wooten Sr. and Suzanna C Wooten in Marianna, Arkansas. Herman and Sue eventually completed their family by adding a daughter, Margaret Ann. Bubba spent his childhood helping his dad on the farm with the cows and hogs. As he grew up, he decided to serve his country by serving in the National Guard for 6 years. On October 1, 1965, Bubba married the love of his life, Peggy Brown. Together they shared 60 years of marriage, all of which were here in Lee County. Bubba's favorite pastime was fishing with his lifelong friend, Earl McBride. They spent many hours out on the nearby lakes and rivers. In Bubba's later years, he loved just sitting on the porch, smoking his cigarettes and enjoying nature. Bubba started his working career at Douglas and Lomason. He worked there for many years. When he left D&L, he went to work for the Marianna Water Dept. where he retired in 2009 as a water treatment operator. Bubba leaves behind his wife, Peggy and many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Harris, Logan Harris, Stevie McClendon, Jim Jones, Caleb Jones, Tracy Wooten, Albert Wooten, Brevard Jones, Ricky Griffith, Earl McBride and Dennis Laflex. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna, Arkansas. The family request memorials can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
