Mary Elizabeth Otwell departed this life at her home in Harrison, Arkansas on July 5, 2025. She was born in Waterloo, Arkansas on July 10, 1930 to Weller Jackson Otwell and Rena Aurese (Best) Otwell.
She was a longtime member of the United Pentecostal Church of Waldo, Arkansas. After retirement, she moved to Harrison, where she attended First Christian Church and was received with many warm hugs and heartfelt love. In turn, she deeply loved the people of First Christian Church. Her life was grounded in her faith in Jesus Christ and she lived for her Savior to the best of her ability.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, mother and an infant sister, Carolyn. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Otwell and his wife, Gail; her nephew, Brad Otwell; her niece, Kriste (Otwell) Brockway and her husband, Ben Brockway. She is also survived by a grand-nephew, Ethan Brockway and his wife, Cara; a grand-niece, Sydney Brockway and a grand-nephew, Joshua Brockway.
Mary graduated from Waldo High School in 1948 and from Business College in Little Rock in 1949. She worked as a secretary for Whitley Law Firm in Magnolia, Arkansas and later for Shanhouse in Magnolia for over 30 years. She also worked at an abstract company at the Columbia County Courthouse for more than 20 years. She moved to Harrison in the fall of 2003.
Her favorite pastime was working crossword puzzles.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11, 2025 followed by the service, both at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison, Arkansas. Allen Thrasher and Pastor Laura West officiated the service.
Mary will be laid to rest at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Harrison.

We were blessed by Mary being our next door neighbor for 22 years. We will miss her kind sweet smile. She was a woman of faith. We know she is now in her heavenly home.
We loved her and she loved us too.

Many childhood memories revolved around Mary. She was a dear friend and she and my mother shared so many adventures and friends. May you be at peace knowing Mary will see many loved ones in heaven and we will meet again.
