of Bryant, AR
November 24, 1943 - June 16, 2025
Leland Stanford Smith, age 81, of Bryant died peacefully at home on Monday, June 16, 2025. Leland was born in Murfreesboro, TN in 1943 to Felix and Lottie Smith and moved to Little Rock at age two. He graduated from Central High School in 1961, where he met Sue, who would become his wife of 62 years. Leland worked at Hostess-Wonder Bread for 30 years while they raised their two daughters. His love of people, music and travel shone through everything he did - Leland never met a stranger and could often be found at car museums with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events or enjoying live music in his free time. He devoted himself fully to God and his family. After losing his wife, Sue in 2023, he reconnected with an old friend, Ellen, who lost her husband of 60 years in 2020. Together, they found love again in light of shared memories and were married on August 5, 2024.
Leland is survived by his wife, Ellen Prewitt; daughters, Dana Smith of Bryant; Laura Yarberry (Evan) of Alexander; bonus daughter, Cathie Dorsch (John) of Alexander; grandchildren, Haley Hamilton (Kyle) of Benton, Dylan Machycek (Emily) of Benton, Sydney Ipsen (Peyton) of Alexander, Jackson Yarberry and Hunter Yarberry of the home, bonus granddaughter, Abby Kent (Danny). He is survived by great-grandchildren, Henry, Jamie, Heath, Miller, Heston and bonus great grandchildren, Jace and Jude. He also is survived by brother, Leslie Smith of Arlington, TX and sister, Inel Reynolds of Little Rock. He is predeceased by his wife, Sue Ellen Smith and brother, Lawrence Smith.

Prayers and Love to the Family
We extend prayers and sympathy to the family. Leland was a good friend and cherished brother in Christ. Sorry we will be unable to attend the family visitation and funeral service due to being out of town. May God strengthen and comfort you.
Leland always had a smile and kind words for others. His faith carried him thru every challenge. After Jesus, his family was his anchor during difficult days. Leland will be missed but in Christ, we will see him again! Sending prayers for all the family.
