of Maumelle, AR

October 25, 1946 - June 12, 2025

Frank Cooksey, age 78, of Maumelle, Arkansas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Born on October 25, 1946 in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Frank lived a life full of faith, service, love and devotion to his family and community.

A proud graduate of Scipio A. Jones High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Frank answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Military in 1965. He served with honor and courage until 1973, earning both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his valor and dedication.

Following his military service, Frank pursued his passion for ministry and education. He earned a bachelor's degree in theology from Arkansas Baptist College and devoted his life to Christ at an early age. A faithful and active member of his church, Frank's life was rooted in his strong belief in God and service to others.

Frank also brought joy to many through food, owning and operating the beloved Cooksey's Kitchen for nearly 10 years. He was widely known, not just for his cooking, but for the warmth and love he poured into every dish.

Family was at the center of Frank's world. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Rani Cooksey and treasured his role as a grandfather. He leaves behind three grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Tyler Pounds, Paris Pounds and London Pounds. Frank cherished every moment spent with them and was a constant source of love, wisdom and support in their lives.

He also had a deep and meaningful relationship with his godchildren, Ricky Franklin and Tameka Franklin, who held a special place in his heart.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Rani and six loving siblings, Mary Cooksey Smith (James), Ruby Cooksey, Faye Cooksey-Abernathy, Carolyn Cooksey-Dixon, Ronnie Cooksey and Joyce Cooksey-McDaniel (John).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elnora Cooksey and Acie B. Cooksey Sr. and eight of his siblings, Acie Cooksey, Dorothy Falls, Dorothy Cooksey-Brown, Lucille Cooksey, Magnolia Phillips, Patsy Cooksey, Billy Cooksey (Martha) and Phillip Cooksey (Alisa).

Frank Cooksey will be remembered for his unwavering faith, generous heart and the deep love he showed to everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the meals he shared and the faith he walked with every day.

The family will host visitation and family hour on Friday, June 20, 2025 in the Chapel of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. Funeral service for Mr. Cooksey will be held at 10:00am, Monday, June 23, 2025 at The Church at Rock Creek in Little Rock with burial to follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Rev Cooksey was a special person. Him and my husband Rev. Byron Goode, Sr. were dedicated to the prison ministry. He traveled with him on several trips. With just him & my husband. But not one time did he complain. He had a heart of gold and treated my family like his own. My oldest daughter Jazmyne called him her second daddy. And yes he will be missed. Prayers for his daughter Rani and her 3 children. Plus his siblings and other extended family.

To Rani and the Kids

Your father my uncle will be truly missed. He had a heart of gold and always made himself available to help those in need. Whether they were apart of the cooksey family or not. He fought a good fight and he did more than run the race that God had put before him. And most of all he loved the Lord and his Family. Now uncle you can rest in the arms of the Lord.
