Darrin Shane Gainer
''Mr. Gainer''

Darrin Shane Gainer, 54, of Wooster, Arkansas passed away on June 15th, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends. He was born on August 26th, 1970 in Durant, Oklahoma to Bill and Wanda Gainer.
Darrin was preceded in death by his father, Bill Gainer and father-in-law, Eddie Flowers.
Darrin is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Jennifer Gainer of Wooster and their son, Kordell of Wooster. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda House (J.C.) of Joshua, Texas; Two sisters, Shelly Wesley (Mark) of Durant, Oklahoma and Penny Combs Gainer of Sherman, Texas. Darrin also had many nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; his mother-in-law, Lois Flowers and sister-in-law, Rebecca Flowers, along with multiple aunts, uncles and a multitude of close friends.
Darrin served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 6 years. He taught Chemistry and Physics at Greenbrier High School, Pottsville High School and Central Baptist College for 28 years. After retirement from school, he and one of his best friends, Mr. Ferguson, worked hard to serve others with their lawn mowing business, "Two Teachers Lawncare".
Darrin accepted the Lord as his savior when he was sixteen years old. He did his best to serve the Lord to the best of his ability. He served faithfully at Bible Baptist Church in Durant, Grace Baptist Church in Conway and at Copperas Springs Baptist Church in Guy. He taught Sunday School, drove a bus route, led the singing and held a church service at St. Andrews nursing home for many years. He undoubtedly earned his title of ''Thou good and faithful servant.''
Darrin never went anywhere that he did not hear someone shouting, ''Mr. Gainer'', which is a testament to the impact he had on his students. Darrin always valued the importance of investing in their lives even after they graduated. Many lives have been impacted by being a student of Mr. Gainer.
Darrin did his best to serve the Lord by serving and caring for others.

Special thanks to the third-floor nurses and patient care techs at Baptist Health Conway.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to "Hands Across Borders", in care of Copperas Springs Baptist Church (366 Highway 25 N, Guy, AR 72061)

I had the pleasure of being taught by Mr. Gainer at Greenbrier High. He exuded the love of Christ in everything he did. He made everybody who walked through his classroom door feel like a somebody. He took Matthew 22:39 " love your neighbor as yourself " and lived it out. I am so thankful to have known Mr. Gainer and will carry on his legacy of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. Jennifer and Kordell, you are in our prayers. ''When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.'' ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭2‬

Mr. Gainer was such an intelligent man and very nice. He tutored me one summer in college chem. I was behind because I had lost my brother in high school. He helped me so much that summer. He was truly a lifesaver. He was very nice and humble. I was so astonished by how smart he was. Not everyone is gifted with the intelligence he had. Such a gifted mind and I could see Christ's light within him. He was a very smart and special person.

I was one of Mr. Gainer's students in 10th and 11th grade. He very quickly became my favorite and I loved his classes. Each day he challenged his students and helped us to learn that it's okay to mess up or fail, but you have to keep going no matter what. His wisdom is one thing I still carry with me, and I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to learn from such a kind and empathetic man. He encouraged me to major in something that really mattered to me, and it is because of him that I worked so hard in school. I appreciate all he's ever done for me, and I know all of his other students do as well.

Mr. Gainer was a teacher I will never forget. He had a remarkable gift for making every student who walked into his classroom"or simply passed him in the hallway"feel like the most important person in the room. He was one of the most patient, kind, and genuine people I've ever known. His gentle smile and calm presence were constant reminders of the love of Christ that radiated from him. I have no doubt he is now with the Lord in Heaven. Praying for his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mr Gainer was my classroom neighbor for 2 years at Pottsville High School. I have never met a more caring, compassionate, selfless person. He made such a difference at Pottsville. He always had a smile and a kind word. My heart is absolutely broken for his family. Praying for comfort for all who knew him.

I ask My Friend Darrin Gainer once- Why does my mind stray to other things when I try hard to concentrate on praying to Sweet Jesus His answer was to say this verse before starting reading or praying from Psalm 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. I copied this verse and kept it in my devotional and a copy in my Bible with the note that My Friend Darrin had advised me to read before each moment spent with Sweet Jesus. I will always remember the kind, patient, loving spirit that My Friend shared with me always. The eyes that focused on me when he was listening with a true love of Spirit within him. What a friend Sweet Jesus you have with you in Heaven!!!!!

Darrin was definitely someone I looked up to growing up and a great role model for anyone. He always made feel like he cares and I know he did. Bro. Darrin was a true man of God and I'm so proud to have been a part of his life. I just know that he is with all the ones that left before him. And I know that my parents were glad to see him again. My heart breaks for his wonderful family. I will continue to pray for them. I sure do love you my Brother.

Mr. Gainer was truly a remarkable and caring teacher. When a teacher can get teenagers to ''like'' chemistry, you know you are dealing with a special individual! My daughter, Laken, has always said that he was one of her absolute favorite teachers. She was heartbroken to hear of his passing. May God bless his family and friends.

I went to church with him at grace Baptist in conway through my whole child hood. And in the 7th grade I moved up to his Sunday school class.
Eventually that lead to me riding the church bus with him and brother Noah. Then after we would go back to the church and get his pickup and go to the Andrew's nursing home and I would help gather everyone that wanted to meet up for church and we would sing and then bro Darrin would preach. Miss u brother

Mr Gainer was an amazing teacher to my son and a friend and colleague to me. He was always smiling and uplifting every student and staff member every morning. He was a man of God always sharing the gospel and letting everyone know just how much Jesus loved us.. He always had something positive he would share with anyone who looked like they were having a tough day. He is a prime example of how we should treat others and how we should live our lives every day. He has touched so many lives and I'm so grateful I was one of them. He will always be loved and respected by so many. Praying for his family and sending hugs.

To say Mr. Gainer made an impact on his students, coworkers, and anyone and everyone who met him is an understatement. I only taught with him a year at Pottsville High School, but he was such a special person and a sincerely incredible teacher. My daughter had him for Chemistry and when she found out about his passing she cried and said, ''he really was the best.''

Mr. Gainer is the reason I majored in chemistry. When I came back to Arkansas to teach, he was the first person I called to shadow. He was a good friend to me over the years as I grew from his student to his colleague.

When I tell people about my favorite teacher, I say, ''Imagine if Andy Griffith taught chemistry and physics.'' Looking back, I appreciate him more than ever for being an example of a man who was tough and smart, but also gentle and kind.

I'm devastated that he's gone, but I smile when I think about the twinkle in his eye and the grin on his face when he embraces Jesus and says, ''Hello, old friend.''
