February 11, 1940 - May 24, 2025
Frank Ives achieved ''Highway Man'' status on May 25, 2025 at the age of 85, surrounded by family in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was the last of his generation.
Frank was born on 11 February 1940 in Yellville, Arkansas to Eben Ives & Nora Morton Ives. Frank and his younger siblings were orphaned at a young age. His older siblings left Frank and his younger siblings to fend for themselves. Through hard work and the good nature of others, Frank and his younger siblings somehow made ends meet.
After graduating from the School of the Ozarks, Frank and his twin brother Dan enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Like so many small town veterans, the appeal of the military was to obtain skills, benefits and direction for his life. He was a simple man, who when given the opportunity to become a Navy pilot declined to follow his dream of becoming a truck driver. Frank worked as an owner operator for 45 years. After retiring, Frank maintained the long-haul trucker lifestyle, visiting his family across the country. Like his brother, Frank mastered the art of overstaying his welcome through repeated practice.
Frank was married to Nancy Ives for forty years. Together, they had three children: Pamela, Bentley and Sandra. Frank instilled a strong work ethic and resilience in his three children. They too overcame poverty, served in the military and became first generation college graduates. His five adult grandchildren have also graduated college and continue his legacy of hard work and determination. This writer included. As will Frank's six great grandchildren
Frank is preceded in death by his six siblings. Frank is survived by his children Sandra Ives, Pamela Ives and Bentley Ives; his grandchildren Kristy Williams, Daniel, Keith, Kelsie, Dakota, Eban, Xander & Chance Ives; and his great grandchildren Mickey, Jackson and Sophie Williams, Thomas, Kaedan and Nora Ives.
Frank Ives will be honored on 7 June 2025 at 1400 at the Nanney Cemetery.
Rest your spirit, Frank.
The last of a generation. You will be missed.
