of Cabot, AR
July 18, 1947 - June 1, 2025
Jarrel Clinton Shearer Jr., of Cabot, Arkansas passed from this life and entered his heavenly home on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Jarrel was born in Leachville, Arkansas on July 18, 1947.
Jarrel was a 1966 graduate of Searcy High School. After graduation, he attended Arkansas State Teacher's College (UCA) and received his degree in education in 1971. That fall he began teaching at Rose Bud where he faithfully served and taught high school history and English for 27 years.
After retiring from teaching, he drove a truck for Caldwell Milling and the White County Road Department. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending as much time with his family as possible.
Jarrel was preceded in death by his father, Jarrel Clinton (J.C.) Shearer Sr. and his mother, Etta Jane (Coleman) Shearer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon (Brown) Shearer; his son, Dr. Ryan Shearer (Ashley); his beloved grandchildren, Benjamin and Audrey; three brothers, Richard Shearer (Janice), Bill Shearer and Bruce Shearer (Sherry) and two sisters, Sherrie Sprouse (Roy) and Judy Crowder (Buster). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and hundreds of former students.
Jarrel had many things he valued in life, such things as hard work, the education of his students and the love of his family. But above all these things, he valued most his relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ and it was his wish that all people will know Jesus as their savior.
The family would like to thank Beebe Retirement Home and Arkansas Hospice for their exceptional care of Jarrel in his final days.
Visitation will be held at City Hope Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 12:30-2:30 pm, with funeral services to follow at 2:30 pm. Interment will take place following the service at Foster's Chapel Cemetery in Searcy, Arkansas. All services are under the care of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.

I am unable to attend the service but send love and sympathies to the family. He was always one of my favorite people and he and I used to have so much fun at basketball games when he kept the clock and I kept the scorebooks many years ago. We shared lots of laughter and I have always treasured those times. Praying for everyone, Debbie
I grew up in the same community as Sharon and I remember Jarrel always having a big smile on his face. He loved to laugh and his presence lit up the room. I know Jarrel influenced many young people during his lifetime. I am saddened to hear of his passing and I know he will leave a huge void. Prayers for Sharon and Ryan and the grandkids during this difficult time.
