Lee Roy Brewer

of Batesville, AR

March 25, 1946 - May 30, 2025

Lee Roy Brewer, a devoted husband, father and lifelong advocate for education was born March 25th, 1946 in Batesville, AR. He passed away into the arms of his Savior, May 30th, surrounded by loved ones. He was a native of Cave City, Arkansas and the son of the late Fay Washington Brewer and Avalonia "Lonie" Phillips Brewer.

Throughout his professional life, Lee Roy dedicated himself to the field of education, serving as a teacher and administrator, across numerous Arkansas school districts. He began his career as a math teacher at Cave City High School and concluded as Superintendent of Midland School District. Gifted with a brilliant mind for mathematics, he inspired generations of students with his clarity, patience and passion for the subject. His impact in the classroom and his leadership in education reflected his deep belief in the power of public schools to shape lives and communities.

In addition to his career in education, Lee Roy also ventured into private business. He founded Brewer's Truss Company in Harrison, Arkansas, which he successfully operated before eventually selling the business.

Lee Roy had a lifelong passion for sports, regularly attending local high school games and faithfully cheering on his beloved alma mater, the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, gardening and RV travel. He was also a talented woodworker, painter and crafter, always eager to create something with his hands. His warmth, humor, mentorship and friendship touched many lives.

Lee Roy was a man of deep faith and a strong Christian. He was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Batesville, where he found joy in worship, fellowship and service. His spiritual life was a guiding force in the way he loved, led and lived

He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Marilyn Brewer; his children: Dr. Allison Brewer Jones and husband, Daniel and their son, Bryant; Kimberly Lowe and her children, Levi, Dante and Simon; Kevin Brewer and Kenny Seaman and wife, Susan and their son, Jake.

Lee Roy's legacy of love, intellect, service and creativity lives on in the hearts of his family, students and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Pallbearers are Kenny Seaman, Jake Seaman, Rick Elumbaugh, Rusty Elumbaugh, Daniel Jones, Brian Carter, Jeremy Butler and Colin Martin. Honorary pallbearers Kevin Brewer, Jim Reed, Charles Jordan, James Canady, Joe Robinson and Gary Ball.

There will be a graveside service Tuesday at 2 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery and a celebration of life to follow at First Baptist Church West Annex.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Baptist Hospital Cardiology and LVAD team, especially Dr. Ransom, Dr. Hutchins, Dr. Campbell, Josh, Jimmy, Wes, Trina and Lola.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White River Wonderland Light Display, City of Batesville, 500 E. Main St, Batesville, AR 72501 or First Baptist Church of Batesville building fund.

Marilyn and Allison, I am so sad to read of Lee Roy's death this morning. He fought a long, hard health battle. Many of us would have given up long ago. I have many memories from our time working together at Oil Trough and Midland. Lots of those memories revolve around him talking about the two of you. He was one of the most passionate educators that I've known. His patience was unbelievable.
Thank you for the visit we has a few years ago. Bob and I enjoyed catching up. Our prayers for all of you is that our loving God gives you strength and peace.

We were math majors at Arkansas College and co-workers at Batesville post office while students. He could lift sacks of Sears Roebuck catalogs to the top of a stack. Big man with a big heart.
