James Lynn Winter Jr (Jim), 61, of Searcy passed from this life on May 28,2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 25,1963 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to James Winter Sr and Margaret Winter Barnett. He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Tom Barnett.
Jim graduated from high school in Mustang, OK and earned his Associates degree of Arts and Computer Information Systems from ASU Beebe then earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Harding University. Jim fulfilled his career at ASU Beebe as the Director of Business and Technical Services, where his fellow colleagues expressed their appreciation for how helpful and knowledgeable he was for them as well as the students. In the summer you would most likely find Jim relaxing on the boat, going out on motorcycle rides and spending time at the beach for family vacations. During his free time at home, he enjoyed gardening, grilling, leather crafting, gaming on his computer and various wood working projects, but most of all he loved being a papaw to his grandkids.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 30 years, Denise Winter; three daughters, Tralana Winter, Melissa Cook, Amy Ridings; two son in laws that he thought of as sons, Jimmy Don Cook and Kyle Ridings; his mother, Margaret Barnett; two brothers, Chris Winter (Margie), John Barnett; one sister, Amy Payne; five grandchildren, Dylan Taylor, Mckenzie Taylor, Landon Cook, Kaysen Ridings, Kohen Ridings and three great grandchildren.
Visitation on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 1-2 PM with service to follow at 2 PM at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy, AR. Interment to follow at White County Memorial Gardens.

Jim was a truly genuine, humble human being, the exceedingly rare individual who makes one want to become a better person. I'm grateful that God blessed me with the privilege of knowing Jim.
