John Daniel Hinkson, born on August 13, 1939, passed away on May 29, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication and deep love for his family.
John and Theresa were married on June 12, 1959 and shared a lifetime of memories, laughter and unwavering partnership. He was the father of Michael Hinkson, Kenny Hinkson, Shelly Pratt (Kevin Pratt) and Paul Hinkson (Dana Hinkson) - each of whom he supported with guidance, love and encouragement throughout their lives.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Theresa Hinkson. He was the grandfather of seven grandchildren, Brittney Crouse (Scott Caldwell), Alex Crouse (Beth Ann Crouse), Andrew Hinkson (Emily Hinkson), Matthew Hinkson (Shelby Hinkson), Cainan Hinkson, Heather Hinkson and Angela Hinkson; Six great-grandchildren, Emma Caldwell, Hallie Crouse, Luke Arthur, Capree Hinkson, Dani Hinkson and Everleigh Hinkson, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He is also survived by his sister, Hester Cody and his brother, Herbert Hinkson. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Hinkson; brothers, Willis and Steve Hinkson and sons, Michael and Kenny Hinkson.
John spent his professional life as an engineer for the Rock Island, Missouri Pacific and Amtrak Railroads, where he was respected for his skill, integrity and commitment. His work spanned decades and he took great pride in his role in keeping the country moving.
Beyond his work, John will be remembered for his steady presence, his gentle humor and his quiet strength. He was a man of character, whose life was rooted in family and service.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025 with a visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Cross Road New Baptist Church,18900 Congo Ferndale Rd, Little Rock, AR. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander, AR.
I worked on the Rock Island with John and truly enjoyed his professional work and friendship!!

His favorite maid will miss him so much I am so grateful for the last couple of years of helping out my family to get the time I had with him we had some great days and lots of laughs he will forever be missed and I hope he keeps those cups holders clean in heaven hehe 😁❤️😞. I am blessed by God that he gave me that time to see the best smile a great man could give you. You will be missed but I will clean those cup holders for him again one day and see that great smile. I love you Aunt t cuz Shelly Paul Brittany Matthew and all the rest you all are very loved and special to me ❣️ thank you for allowing me to help with him the last few weeks ago and gave me that special time. I am forever grateful for you loving me that much. Your favorite maid is always here for y'all and love you so much

All the years I knew Jack and Theresa they were always pleasant to visit with and also helped me when I was ill with cancer and in need of assistance. God bless him and I will miss him greatly.
Hearts are broken at the passing of such a kind and humble Christian man. His gentle strength and quiet smile will be remembered by all those that knew,loved and respected him. His love and dedication to God and his family was evident in all he did and all he was. He will be missed by many.
