Lois (Berry) Compton of Shirley, Arkansas passed away Tuesday evening May 27, 2025, her 99th birthday. She was born in Rushing, Arkansas on May 27, 1926 to the late Richard Lex and Hattie (Ross) Berry.
After graduating from Shirley High School, she attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, earning her BSE in education. Lois taught elementary school for several years before following her husband, Paul to Houston, Texas where he was president and owner of business colleges in Texas and Arkansas. She worked alongside him, helping in a variety of roles for many years.
Some of Lois' favorite past-times included traveling, entertaining, shopping, playing bridge, reading and visiting with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Paul Compton; her beloved son, Richard Paul ''Rick'' Compton; her parents; four brothers, Claudie Sr, Cloy, Roy and Kenneth Berry and her special 4-legged friend, Sophie.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, a large extended family and friends.
Visitation service will be Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas. A celebration of her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Settlement Cemetery in Shirley, Arkansas.
