of Maumelle, AR
June 11, 1952 - May 27, 2025
Sam Cook, 72, of Maumelle, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2025 after a short but life robbing, aggressive cancerous disease.
He was born in Rose City, Arkansas on June 11, 1952 to the late William Cook and Anna Mae Banks-Cook.
Sammy attended school in Rose City, then North Little Rock High School. He was a very hard worker and started odd jobs at the age of 14. He proudly joined the Navy, but was Honorably discharged after a few months when he was called home to take care of his mother.
Sammy loved driving a truck and started his professional driving career with Land O'Frost, hauling meat products across country. He then worked for Oakley Trucking and Tuttle & Tuttle sand trucking and hauled sand to the oil fields across country. He switched to Tennessee Steel Haulers hauling steel products nationwide. Sammy wanted to be near home, so he sold his Peterbilt truck and flatbed trailer and went to work for Loomis Armored Co. in Little Rock and was a licensed armored guard and Commercial driver. Sammy loved all of his commercial driving experiences bragging over a million miles without an incident.
Sammy married Gloria in November of 2006. They had no children in that marriage but surrounded themselves with the best companion pups and they loved them tremendously.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any non-kill animal shelter.
Always with a smile, Sammy will be remembered kindly and he will be missed by all those who loved him dearly.

Only knew Sam for a short time, but in that time enjoyed working and joking with him. Heard a lot about his days in trucking. I know now he's in no pain and resting. Will miss him but know he's in a better place. Prayers for his family.
