Carolyn Louise Harris Toy

of Batesville, AR

December 2, 1943 - May 26, 2025

Carolyn Louise (Harris) Toy, 81, of Batesville, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.

For those who knew her, Carolyn was more than just a mother, wife, sister and aunt. She was a cornerstone. Fierce in her love, passionate in her faith and steady in her devotion to others, she leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured.

Carolyn was married to her soulmate, James Toy for 50 years. Their marriage was a beautiful example of unconditional love and she remained deeply devoted to him long after his passing. Together they raised their daughter, Teresa, who was the light of Carolyn's life. She poured every ounce of herself into her family, making sure they were cared for, encouraged and always knew how deeply they were loved.

After working as an administrative assistant in the Desha School District for several years, Carolyn then worked as a librarian's assistant at both Batesville Junior High and High Schools from 1985 until she retired in 2004. She quietly and faithfully served students and staff, bringing a sense of calm and warmth to everyone she encountered.

Carolyn was a longtime member of Batesville First Assembly of God, and more recently, attended Searcy First Assembly of God. Over the years, she lived her faith through service, at various times serving as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School secretary and Missionette sponsor, but one of her greatest passions was working in the church kitchen. She was often the first one to arrive and the last one to leave, preparing countless meals for church events, funerals and anyone in need. To many, she was the backbone of the church kitchen - humble, tireless and full of joy in giving.

Carolyn was the heartbeat of her family. She was the one who kept everyone connected, the one people called when they needed advice, comfort or direction. She helped raise many of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own and found joy in watching those she loved grow and thrive. Her selflessness and determination to see others succeed will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Toy; her parents, Robert Earl and Una Mae ''Tumpsie'' Harris; her sisters, Clara Mae Vines, Geraldine Williams, Ollie Faye Coleman, Sue Green and her brother, Bobby Harris.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Teresa Toy of Batesville; her sister, Ruby Evans of Cabot and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family and dear friends who adored her and are better because of her love.

Carolyn's life was a testimony of faith, strength and unwavering love. She was a woman who made everyone feel like family and she leaves behind generations who will carry her memory, her prayers and her example in their hearts forever.

Pallbearers are Calvin Estes, Mitchell Langston, George Coleman, Jr., Gary Brannon, Jr., Dakota Treece and Rick Green.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 1:00pm at the First Assembly of God of Searcy with Dr. Alvin Wayne Langston and Rev. Rusty Blann officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Beebe.

A visitation will be held at the church in Searcy from 12:00pm until 1:00pm Saturday, May 31, 2025.

There will be a visitation Friday, May 30, 2025 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.

Memorials may be made in her honor to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251.

Eddie and I will forever miss our beloved friend, Carolyn, who was more like family. There is a Bible verse that seems very fitting for Carolyn…..''When they arrive at the gates of death, God welcomes those who love Him''. Psalm 116:15. Our prayers are for Teresa and the rest of her family during these difficult days. Rest in Peace Carolyn, we will see you again!

I have nothing but fond memories of Carolyn from the time she and James spent at Desha School. Mrs. Toy was a consistent friendly and polite lady that made the day a little better.
