It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patsie Marie Potter Holmes on May 23, 2025 at the age of 75, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 2, 1949 in Tyronza, Arkansas to Clara and Reed Potter, Pat grew up in Tyronza and later moved to Southaven, Mississippi, where she graduated from Horn Lake High School in 1967.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Malcolm E. "Ed" Holmes Jr.; her beloved daughter, Mandi Abernathy (Donnie) of Southaven, MS; her cherished sisters, Sharon Montgomery of Melbourne, FL and Linda Jordan (Larry) of Southaven, MS; three adored grandchildren, Kayle Abernathy Brown (Matt), Donald Keegan Abernathy and Katherine Claire Abernathy all of Southaven and seven treasured great-grandchildren, Beaux Perry, Ezra Brown, Beckett Brown, Brodie Brown, Dalton Brown, Walker Brown and Mia Brown.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Reed Potter and two nephews, Brad Maxwell and Cole Jordan.
Pat's career spanned several respected organizations, including Computer Solutionsā"where she met Edā"Memphis Light, Gas, and Water and FedEx Customer Service. However, her greatest joy came from caring for and reading to the children in her life, a passion she embraced wholeheartedly until her diagnosis of Cancer in August 2024, she was declared cancer-free in early 2025, but her battle continued with another cancer diagnosis which she bravely fought until her passing.
Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved her family ''to the moon and back''. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A gathering will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the Twin Oaks Chapel, 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, MS, with the gravesite service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Twin Oaks
