Funeral arrangements for Mr. Mike Hood, 71, of Gassville, Arkansas, are being handled by Roller Funeral Home. Mike peacefully passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in Gassville.
Born on January 31, 1954, in Michigan City, Indiana, Mike was the son of Melvin and Lorraine (Dicks) Hood. He dedicated 21 years to driving dump trucks for Baxter County Road and Bridge, where his skill as a gravel spreader was renowned and often requested. Prior to that, he drove a gas truck for Lacefield Oil Company.
Among his favorite pastimes was meticulously maintaining his yard and working on his beloved '67 Chevelle. He cherished taking his wife of 44 years, Michelle, on special dates and found his greatest joy in spending time with his family.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Michelle Hood (Ivens), their son Michael Hood Jr. and daughter-in-law Brittany, five grandchildren: Will (Krestun), Brandon (Ailaina), Bryan (Destiny), Jude, and Jensen, as well as three great-grandchildren: Langston, Wylder, and Adalida. He is also survived by his brothers Mel Hood, Dick Hood (Chari), sisters Dorrene Pace, Pat Keen, Marcia Ivens, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and two brother-in-laws. Mike will be fondly remembered for his dedication to his family, his meticulous work ethic, and his unwavering love for those closest to him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
A Funeral will be held at Gassville Baptist Church on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 2:00pm with Pastor Gary Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Gassville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gassville Baptist Church on Thursday, May 22 from 5 - 8 pm.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Sanders, Curt Dicks, Justin Williams, Chris Middleton, Greg Hunter and Aaron Watts. Honorary Pallbearers are Stanley Seymore, Dennis Keen, Joe Bell, Danny Marler, Marvin Keen, Rodger Marler and Derek Ivens.
