of West Memphis, AR
October 11, 1952 - May 3, 2025
Glenda Ward, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on May 3, 2025 in West Memphis, AR surrounded by her family.
Glenda was born October 11, 1952 in Wynne, AR. Preceding her in death are her parents, Bobbie Sue White Farrell and Doyle Higginbotham.
Glenda was a loving mother, wife and ''NeNe" whose life was filled with laughter and devotion to her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bobby Ward of West Memphis, AR; her daughter, JC Ward of Fort Collins, CO; her sister, Cheryl Gaston of Crane Hill, AL; her brother, Allen (Sheray) Higginbotham of Sherwood , AR; her nieces, Morgan Angele, Charity Huff, Hollie Carey and Stephanie Foster; her nephews, Trey Foster, Ben Grayson and Jonathan Higginbotham; her "Greats", Skylar Berger, Grayson Huff, Addison Huff, Hollis Cooper Berger and Spencer Foster; her lifelong best friend and Ethel to her Lucy, Teresa Foster; along with many, many friends and other family members.
Glenda was a volunteer educator at the Memphis Zoo, sharing stories of the animals and conservation in what was truly her "happy place". She and her daughter traveled the world together, from Africa to Costa Rica with cross-country road trips in between. Glenda's love for her close knit family also frequently took her to the Atlanta area to spend time with her beloved sister, nieces and ''Greats" for big events and casual weekends. She was always ready for an adventure and a board game.
Glenda's favorite hobby was photography, often behind the camera instead of in front of the lens. She enjoyed capturing important moments in life on film, once carrying a VCR and full-size camera to the top of the Statue of Liberty for just the right footage. Her eye for detail and love for the friends and family she photographed are reflected in the beautiful images she leaves behind. She was a keeper of memories, documenting moments with her friends at annual couples fishing tournaments, church socials and family reunions; digitizing thousands of images for future generations to cherish.
Glenda retired in 2024 from her career as a bookkeeper that included decades with Motion Picture Laboratories, At Home Medical and HR New Hire. Her work families remember her fun-loving spirit, quick wit and dedication to a job done well. Glenda also previously volunteered for many years as a Sunday School teacher and Church Treasurer for Shell Lake Baptist Church.
