Charles S. Wood, 95, of Springdale died May 7, 2025 at The Willard Walker Washington Regional Medical Center Hospice. He was born Sept. 26, 1929, in Dorsey, Mississippi to Henry Grady and Dovie Lea Wood.
He was a retired vice-president of Commercial Industrial Bank (now Bank of America) in Memphis, Tennessee and a member of the Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville.
Charlie was a past state president of the American Legion after serving in the Air Force in France during the 1950s, a member of the West Memphis Chamber of Commerce, and an avid Razorback fan, holding season football tickets since 1959 and basketball and baseball tickets after retiring to Northwest Arkansas in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marva Ann Wood; his parents; a brother, Joe of Trumann, Ark.; and two sisters, Wilene Gaither of Florence, Ala., and Marjorie Ivers of Pine Bluff, Ark.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles S. (Chuck) and Janet Allen Wood Jr. of Memphis, Tn.; his son, Terry Joe Wood of Springdale; a sister, Ginger Holloway of Nashville; his grandson, Retired Warrant Officer Charles S. (Chip) III and Ana Wood of Richmond Hill, Ga.; and granddaughter, Jill and Matt Lambert of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and five great-grandchildren, Aspen and Hunter Riddle of San Diego, Calif.; Hayden and Wylen Wood of Richmond Hill, Ga.; Ray and Jack Lambert of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Both Visitation and Service will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Ar. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be private. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Southern Christian Home at 100 W. Harding St. Morrilton, AR 72110.
