January 14, 1941 - May 6, 2025
Thomas Edward Young Sr., better known as "Ned, Dad, and Pop Pop", passed away peacefully at his home in Lexa, Arkansas on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. He was born on Tuesday, January 14, 1941, in Helena, Arkansas to the late Dallas and Matilda Young.
Mr. Ned, as he was known to almost everyone, started working out of high school at Mohawk Rubber Co., as so many people in this area did. He farmed some with his brother RJ and his dad Dallas at night and on the weekends. He also had a vending machine route with chip and coke machines. He married Prissy Meyers from West Helena and had one girl and four boys. He started farming full time in a couple of years and never looked back. Mr. Ned raised his family with a strong work ethic and family importance. Family was first with him always. After Prissy passed away, Ned met Norma Marinelli from Friars Point, Mississippi. They were married for twenty years until his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Marinelli Young; four sons, Tommy (Debbie) Young, Danny (Alisha) Young, Clay (Shannon) Young and Will (Laura) Young; eleven grandchildren, Meagan (Brandon) Miller, Cameran McWilliams, Shelby (Trent) Loyd, Blake (Micah) Harper, Jordan Young, Allie (Andy) Treat, Cole (Carrington) Young, Luke Young, Kendall (Riley) Lewis, Kendall Cunningham, Kate Young, Maddox Young and Dallas Young; nine great-grandchildren, Nora, Brecken and Elliott McWilliams, Wes and Ryan Miller, Lakyn and Hawkins Loyd, Hudson and Anna Blake Harper.
Ned is preceded in death by his wife, Priscila Meyer Young; parents, Dallas and Matilda Young; daughter, Lisa Elaine Young; three brothers, Eugene, RJ, and Jimmy Young Sr.; sister, Dorothy Sunshine Thompson; one granddaughter, Macy Young.
A graveside service honoring Mr. Ned Young will be held 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Young's Cemetery in Poplar Grove, Arkansas. Brother Gary Maskell will officiate.
Services will be directed by the staff of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571. Relatives and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/westhelena.
Ned was the glue to what family means! He will be missed but be at peace! God Bless! Henry and Munnie Jordan
I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Ned was the nicest man and will surely be missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
I have a wonderful memories of Ned that started when R. J. and I were dating. He was probably around 10 years old and we would take him with us to the movies and to the lake in the summer. Granddad Dallas and the other boys were big into baseball, but we would go swimming, boating, and picnicking. And the good times continued through working the farms and the cotton gins together. It was not unusual for me to walk up & stand by Ned thinking it was R.J. They were so much alike. Not just physically, but also in their personality and respect for everyone they came in contact with.
I pray that God, our Father will bless & guide Norma and the boys and all the extended family through these years to come. Dolores
We are so sorry to hear about Mr. Ned. He and Mrs. Prissy were always good to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Prayers sent up for you all. He was a friend, customer for years; then they became like family. I will always have great memories and some pictures of great times. I'll see you when I get home to heaven.
When i met Wayne back in 1999 we would ride up and down Cherry Street just as was the tradition. Wayne worked for Tommy Gregory and his best friend James worked for Mr. Ned. James and Wayne were almost inseparable. When Wayne wasn't working on Tommy's farm he was with James. Skipping several years when I was pregnant with my youngest James, Wayne and a few of the others had gone up to the cabin Mr. Ned had up at Brickies. When I went into labor Mr. Ned went and got Wayne for me so he could be there . I will never forget that day he did that so I would have my husband with me. Thanks to Mr. Ned for all the memories I have for the Young family. You will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Ned. I think of all the older Young's as family. They all spent time at my papaw's store when I was young. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Shannon and Clay. This hurts my heart. RIP Mr. Ned.
To the entire Young family, Mr. Ned was always a tremendous blessing to both of us. Every week, we would visit our shut-ins and church members who owned businesses. I will never forget stepping into Young's Custom Service to spend time with Shannon, Norma, Ned, Clay, and the entire staff there. Ned was usually the first face we saw as we walked through the front door. He greeted us with a big smile, making us feel completely at home. We have been away for years, but his memory is such a blessing to both of us.

Mr. Ned was one of the kindest men i have known. He never failed to speak and smile when he saw you. I know he will be missed by you all. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
I became friends with Mr Ned when he became a customer at Mississippi River Grain. He was a true customer to us until the market got so bad that he had to make decisions to go to the river for more money.
We remained in touch and over the years he helped me with a lot of different things.
He and Clay put my crop in when I had my bypass surgery and would not take my offer to pay them. That's the kind of man he was and it appears that his boys are following in his footsteps.
He will be missed my many and especially me.
