of Little Rock, AR
July 9, 1959 - May 3, 2025
Bobby "Gene" Scott, Jr., 65, was called home on May 3, 2025 surrounded by family he dearly loved who supported, cared for and loved him well through his courageous battle with cancer. Gene was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on July 9, 1959 to Bobby Gene Scott, Sr. and Maelu Hays Scott. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gene Scott, Sr., his stepfather, Kenneth Ellis and his brother, Nathan Ellis. Gene is survived by his devoted wife of almost 43 years, Dona Dean Scott, his sons, Hunter Scott (Carrie) of Little Rock, Arkansas and Taylor Scott (Karine) of Tampa Florida, as well as his seven precious grandsons Weston, Colton and Asher of Little Rock and Hays, Axton, Ryker and Bronson of Tampa, Florida. Surviving family members also include his mother, Maelu Ellis of Hot Springs, sisters Mindy Gallegos (Danny) of Malvern, Arkansas, Dena Holbrooks (Erik) of Sherwood, Arkansas, brother Chris Ellis (Jan) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved and cherished.
Gene graduated from Hendrix College with a B.A. in Business and Economics. While Gene was a gifted businessman who was blessed to have several different business careers, all of which afforded him the opportunity to grow, learn and serve, the principal joy he found in his labor was through the privilege of serving others and the cultivation of meaningful friendships with co-workers and their families. He was a member of both The Church at Rock Creek and Christ Community Church and found great peace and hope in the promise and assurance of his relationship with Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Gene did not live his life for earthly recognition or public display, but rather focused his life on his faith, family, church and friends. While the last 3 1/2 years of Gene's life were filled with challenging health struggles, he faced these with courage, dignity and grace. Nearing the end of his life, Gene expressed gratitude for this journey that brought so much joy, happiness and richness to time spent with the bride of his youth. He was so grateful for the Godly young men that his sons grew to become, and he loved the meaningful time he was blessed to have observing the exhilaration of life experienced through the eyes and sounds of his grandchildren. To know Gene is to easily recognize his kindness, gentleness and compassion, giving grace and extending forgiveness freely based upon his strongly held belief that much grace and forgiveness has been extended to him as a follower of Christ. Gene loved taking on projects in both his professional and personal life, with the simple goal of making things better for others. He was a lifelong avid Razorback fan where for over 20 years he and friends shared seats in Razorback stadium experiencing the highs and lows of all things Razorbacks. Gene held a deep love for the beauty of nature and simply being outdoors, which he enjoyed experiencing through his love of hunting and fishing or just sitting on his back porch or on the beach with his beloved Dona sipping a glass of wine and taking in God's glorious sunsets. He took great delight in watching his grandsons catching fish, feeding donkeys, walking the trails or running through the fields of their family farm, which was Gene and Dona's special place where they lived until his death.
The family would like to thank the extraordinary, compassionate team of doctors, nurses and health care workers at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, CARTI in Little Rock, Arkansas and Arkansas Hospice for their kind and loving care.
A service honoring Gene's life will be held at The Church at Rock Creek located at 11500 West 36th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation to be held one hour before the service at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donation someone may be interested in making be contributed to Access Schools, 10618 Breckenridge Drive, Little Rock, AR 72211.

I met Gene about 30 years ago when he was actively in the CPA business. He was a very smart, winsome man, and I always admired him from several perspectives. We have temporarily lost a great person. I am confident that those of us who believe "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (Corinthians 5:8) will see him again. Heaven has gained a very good man.
We only had the privilege of knowing Gene for the past three years. He came to our home on many occasions to visit. We cherish those visits He was always upbeat and positive. Gene loved talking about his grandchildren and his wife Dona. He was proud of his Sons and spoke about them often. Always caring and offering help when he was the one that needed it. Our world lost a fine man Our prayers to Dona and the families. We will all miss you Gene.
Our prayers are with the Scott family.
Gene was the best man I have ever known. He was wise and kind and so very generous. He loved life and everyone in it. Being around him was always inspiration and insightful. My only regret is not getting to know him and love him longer. Dona is truly one in a million, too. So very precious.
Gene was my boss, my mentor and my friend.
He led the TNAA Team with integrity and focus. He was beloved because he made every person in the room feel special and deeply valued.
He epitomized servant leadership. I learned my most important business lessons working with him for 8 years.
He used to say: When you know what your guiding principles are, your decisions are simple.
Another lesson. I came in complaining about a candidate who was creating drama and he said: Michelle. It is okay to show compassion to someone even when what they are experiencing are the consequences of their own actions.
My husband passed from cancer 10 years ago when I worked for TNAA. I was remote in NC. But when I looked out across the faces at my husbands funeral, there was Gene. Smiling at me with tears in his eyes.
I will never forget him. A business man who sought to compete and win, but never at the cost of compromising our integrity.
A family man whose beautiful wife Dona was his forever Crush and whose sons and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
A man of Faith who never preached, but rather walked through life trying to model his Savior.
He is with Him now.
''Well done, Good and Faithful Servant.''
Love you, Gene.
Gene and Dona made a huge and wonderful impact on my life. Just their positive outlook and loving ways would draw people to them. Gene was a role model that I'm sure positively affected so many lives. My heart goes out to the whole family. I send my continued prayers for comfort and peace of mind to you all. Rest in peace Gene, in the arms of Jesus, until our paths cross again.
Hunter, Carrie and Family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Gene was the kindest soul I think I've ever met. I consider Gene & Dona family. No doubt he left an impact on everyone he encountered. What a beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
He led with love & grace. I know I try to do this each day, and it's not always the easiest. He made generosity, grace, and love look easy.
Glad to have known you, Gene! You loved my sister like your own daughter. You've touched so many lives.
You can rest now.
So much love to you, Dona, and family!!

I only met Papa Gene on a few occasions but you didn't need to know him long to see the genuine love and care he had for his family. His memory and the impact he's had on those around him will surely live on forever. My sincerest condolences to Mama Dona and the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dona, Hunter, and Taylor: Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Take one day at a time and remember all the good times. Gene is in no more pain and agony. He is in the arms of Jesus!
A wonderful neighbor and friend
He always had a smile and was kind to everyone
Gene was a remarkable man. He was one of the kindest, most genuine individuals I have ever known. His unwavering faith, humble spirit, and deep love for his family and those around him was an example to all. He believed in others and pushed those around him to grow, to strive, and to be better. Gene never sought recognition and would blush when I would share how impactful he was. He had a servant heart and reminded me to live with purpose and to love others. To know Gene was a gift that I will always cherish. I am forever grateful.
Gene brought me in to the TNAA family in 2016 and it truly was a blessing. If you had the opportunity to spend time with him, it didn't take long to see his heart. Full of kindness, generosity and a love for Arkansas football. He always encouraged his employees to do the right thing, always, even if it costs, and always assume best intentions. It was a blessing to know him, he will be missed. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Gene changed my life, he not only gave me a job when I needed one, but he helped me find my love for recruiting again. He built a company and culture of love and respect that not only changed me as a professional but helped me in my personal life to be a better parent and partner. He was never too busy for a "visit" with any employee and always made you feel heard and seen. He was kind, loving and respected by all who knew him. I am so thankful that he was my leader for so many years and my friend. He will be missed so much, and his impact will be felt for years to come.

The world was a better place with Gene in it.
Condolences and prayers.
I had the wonderful pleasure of knowing Gene through my care of his grandson Colton. He was such a warm and compassionate person and his light glowed brightly. Though our time of knowing each other was short, I want the family to know that Gene touched my heart sincerely. Throughout his battle, he remained strong, and readily available for his family. The love Gene showed flows through the entire Scott family, and I know that together, they will get through this hard time. I love you all.
Gene was one of the finest fellows I have ever had the pleasure to be around. It was a courageously brave fight for him and his family. God Bless him and all those that are grieving this loss.
Working with Gene in a professional environment (TNAA), he was the same caring, Christ-centered person that he obviously was in his personal life. He will be dearly missed.
I have so many fond memories of being with Gene and Dona during their boys high school days. Gene was always so much fun and so kind to everyone. He was a gentle giant. My prayers are with all of the family.. May God comfort you as only He can and may you cherish all the special memories you shared. Psalm 34:18
I am so sorry to hear of Bobby's passing but am happy he is no longer suffering. I had the pleasure of working with him at JPMS and bought my favorite vehicle from him! I know he will be missed.
Gene was such a generous, loving and genuinely caring person who most definitely left a beautiful mark on this world. What a fabulous cousin and role model he was and always will be. If we could all be like Gene, what a wonderful world this would be! I'll miss you, Cuz, but I will see you again!
